Julia es una persona MARAVILLOSA. Animo a todo el mundo que pueda a que la acoja en su casa porque es de gran ayuda. … read more de su vida en el campo. Y Lucía cocina comida deliciosa pues comía como un rey. El paisaje es precioso también, con olivos por todas partes, vistas de Granada y de la sierra nevada. El trabajo puede ser un poco duro fisicamente pero es muy sencillo. Por las mañanas daba comida y paja a todos los animales y despues limpiaba el patio. A veces hay otras cosas que hacer pero cuidando los animales es el trabajo normal.
si te gusta la vida en el campo, los animales y pasando tiempo con gente amable, te lo vas a pasar genial aquí.

… read more hacer todo lo mejor para todos. A pesar de todas las actividades que tiene que gestionar, siempre va a encontrar el tiempo para aconsejarte o ofrecerte participar en actividades. Siempre ha hecho todo para que me sienta bien, para que coma bien (es una excelente cocinera) pero también para que después de mis tareas pueda disfrutar al máximo de mi estancia allí. Me hizo sentir como un miembro de la familia y siempre será para mí como mi madre de España :)
También tuve la oportunidad gracias a esta familia de aprender mucho sobre la cultura andaluza, de reírme mucho, de tener muchos buenos consejos y sobre todo de guardar hermosos recuerdos. Creo que una vez que conozcamos a esta familia y este lugar, siempre queremos volver.
Sobre el trabajo, no es difícil y consiste principalmente en alimentar a los animales y también dar agua así que tienes mucho tiempo libre (además tienes los fines de libre) para hacer lo que quieres y también para darte la oportunidad si tienes un buen nivel de poder a menudo montar a caballo (con caballos geniales, super buenos).

Staying at the finca was a very authentic experience.
The work is okay: you start at 9 until 1pm (depends) and basically what you do is feed the animals and give them water. After that you are free

- the room is nice but there is a hole in the door which means that when it rains there might be water in the room. however i did manage to find a solution so that it would not be a problem.
- you will be on your own, the 4 people there are nice but they are not big talkers which means that you spend 90% of your day alone. Personally i was not ready to be this lonely and the shock was brutal, so yeah be ready for that.
- there are a lot of spiders everywhere as well as in the room (you actually can get use to it)
- when i told them i was going to leave early they litteraly didn't care, or at least that's what it seemed like so yeah again kinda brutal
- to go to the loo you have to go outside and then there is a toilet
- as a person who likes everything to be clean i had a hard time with everything beeing always dirty but not everyone will feel concerned about that
There are also good things of course:
- they will always answer your texts and your questions! don't be scared to ask
- Lucia is a very good cook. Coming from someone who can be quite picky on food it means a lot so don't worry about that. however being a vegetarian there might be a problem, but that's just Spain in general ahah
- the horses are really nice
- if you want to ride you will have plenty of opportuniy! If you have a good level you can ride every day in the arena or go on hikes (for safety reasons not alone) and if not you can take part in the classes she gives
- the landscape is absolutely amazing
- you can go to Granada on the weekends (you dont have enough time in the afternoon unless you take a uber). By bus it's 1h30 away (30min walk included) and it costs like 6e round trip. Granada is such a nice city with loaaads of students so you can easily meet people there.
So i know i put more positive comments than negative ones but the negative where just too much for me to handle and i decided to leave. i guess what i am trying to say is that the experience depends on the person but to actually enjoy it i think you have to be used to be alone for long periods of time without going out and talking and stuff. Otherwise be ready to learn a lot about yourself but i saddly learnt it the hard way aha.

I went to the finca mid february for a total of 2 weeks and a half instead of 5. In order to be as factual as possible I will list my thoughts about my stay there. Here are the positive thoughts:
- The place is stunning, a typical spanish finca with no one around, no pollution, fresh air... amazing view on the montains at a 5 minute walk! Also you
… read more are surrounded by animals which is so pleasant! I met the cuttest kitten ever
- My tasks and work hours were very clear, no surprise. It is farm work (feeding and watering animals, sweaping and cleaning the stalls... from 9 to 12/13. I worked in autonomy after a few days of learning the tasks.
- I had the opportunity to ride a horse two times, one time during a class and one for a walk
- Some interesting chats with the family around the fire.
- a personal terrace for the free hours of the afternoons.
- Easy access to Granada in 1h15 more or less. The bus stop is not very close but 35mins by walk through the countryside full of olive trees (nice view!) and buses every 30mins
Now the less positives thoughts;
- Although the profile highlights the cultural exchange they offer, I did not feel like it. They are quite busy and my only moments with them was during the meals but often they were not very talkative. Some day we talked less than 15 mins total; Also I learn very little with them eventhough I was eager to train my spanish skills or general knowledeges about the spanish/andalucian life. Many times they left the finca without noticing
- This place is run as a business so pretty much everything you do is business related.
- The accomodation is spartan, a room with no thermal insulation (litterally 3 holes on the door and one on the ceilling), and if you share the room say good bye to anykind of intimacy. There is no heating except for the fire during the night, cold afternoon can feel very long. The bathrooms is located 40 meters away.
- About the food and being vegetarian I had troubles! many times I had vegetables ONLY but it is not an healthy diet for someone working in a farm... Also I could not suggest anything and they have the interesting habit of keeping the food in a pantry they keep locked up. Luckily I could use the eggs of the chickens of the farm! As an exemple one night I came to the kitchen and Lucia told me that they ate all the food but I could fried myself an aubergine..
To conclude I would not recommend the place if you look for interaction with the hosts but if you look for a quiet and peaceful place with a lot of free hours that would work for you!Só é possível entrar em contato com Workawayers com assinaturas ativas.

wir waren 2 Monate dort und hatten einen sehr schönen Aufenthalt. … read more spanisch beigebracht, aber alle drei können gutes englisch. wir sind Vegetarier, das war aber nicht wirklich ein Problem, Lucía hat sich Mühe gegeben, uns immer etwas vegetarisches zu geben, auch wenn sie und ihre Familie oft Fleisch gegessen haben. es war zwar zweimal ein Stück Fleisch in der Suppe, aber das war nur eine Ausnahme. die Arbeit war sehr nicht allzu schwer, es hat Spaß gemacht, sich um die Tiere zu kümmern. Hauptsächlich natürlich um die Pferde. Wenn wir wollten, konnten wir auch immer bei den reitstunden oder touren durch die Berge mitmachen können. unser Zimmer war auch sehr komfortabel. wenn am Wochenende die Gäste kommen zum reiten, kann man Lucía fragen, ob wir wine Mitfahrgelegenheit bis nach Granada kriegen. tagsüber ist keine Arbeit, da ist es manchmal ein wenig öde, aber bei nem Monat Aufenthalt ist es denk ich kein Problem. alles in allem würden wir es wieder machen, es war eine sehr schöne Zeit :)

… read more summer and the fact that they had summer camp for riding horses during the summer months. This meant sharing 1 bathroom with about 30 children and mealtimes as well. The nearest town was not close by at all so not an option to walk to. … read more very occupied all the time. Unfortunately we didn't talk a lot during my stay there. That's why I would say that July and August aren't the best months to come to the farm if you're looking for a lot of cultural exchange.
Due to the summercamp situation we also had to share a bathroom with more than 30 persons and ate the same meals as the children which can be sometimes difficult if you're a vegetarian.

During the 3 weeks of my stay, I really had a wonderful time with the family! They welcomed me into the family since the first day, and I couldn't be more grateful. … read more pigs, sheeps, goats, a rabbit, and a pony and cleaning horse houses. The horses are friendly, and also I was able to experience a horseback riding tour for the first time! Every night we gathered around the fireplace to sit, talk, relax and have dinner. Lucia cooks amazing food. I really enjoyed the time here, definitely missing it!
During my free time, I sat outside to chill, took walks, played with cats and dogs. The location is quite nice, it is located in a remote place but also super close to the village of Las Gabias, only 15min walk away. The city of Granada is definitely worth visiting with the tapas and beautiful cultures. Also, there are a lot of walks you can do around the farm and by just walking 5min uphill you can see the beautiful scenery of Granada including The Alhambra and the Sierra Nevada. In the night you can see the stars super clearly.
