We loved having Clara as a Workaway guest. She was perfect. She listened carefully to instruction and did amazing work for us, going well beyond what we asked for. As well as being determined to complete the very difficult project we had, she looked after our pets and expertly cooked really delicious food for us. She was fun to be with and talked
… read more freely about her life and her plans for the future. She had a really great attitude and many other skills that she couldn't even use because she was working so hard on the garden project. She had good strength and stamina and problem solving skills when in the garden which made things so easy for us working with her. Thanks heaps Clara for making our life easier.

Thank you so much for your kind hospitality, the barn is designed with so much love and a real feel-good-place. Dallas and John are both amazing cooks, they cook with such a joy, interculturally and super yummy from Japanese, Chinese to Mediterranean. Thanks for showing me the right way, to use chopsticks - now I won't embarrass myself in the next Thai restaurant. I really enjoyed talking with you about everything, I felt so cared for and I am so grateful for every single moment I shared with you, to be part of your family with Zeppie and the spice girls.
It was truly a wonderful experience, I highly recommend Dallas and John.

… read more sont des personnes extrêmement sympathiques et attachantes, accueillantes, intelligentes, à la fois simples et raffinées. A vrai dire, nous nous sommes tout de suite sentis chez nous, comme accueillis par des amis (ou, en ce qui concerne nos filles, par des grands parents !) Un séjour inoubliable.
Petit plus : Ils nous ont donné à faire des choses qui correspondaient à nos compétences professionnelles, avec beaucoup de bienveillance et en nous faisant énormément confiance.
This last stay of our trip to New Zealand with our three daughters was perfect. Dallas and John have a large property that they built from scratch over 15 years. A magnificent garden landscaped with great taste, and very comfortable accommodation that they rent out as bnb's in the summer; it's a joy to work there. Dallas and John are extremely friendly and engaging people, welcoming, intelligent, both simple and refined. In fact, we immediately felt at home, as if we were being welcomed by friends (or, in the case of our daughters, by grandparents!) An unforgettable stay.

What a perfectly wonderful way to finish our Workaway hosting for 2024. Laurent and Marie and their three delightful girls spent two weeks turning our basic request for a hen-house spruce up with a couple of cute signs, into a major project involving lots and lots of laughter, a whole lot of paint, a rotten broken bench seat and some amazing

Now we have a fantastic hen-house precinct (see our photos) in beautiful colours with classy nest boxes and a lovely antique upcycled bench seat with pots of flowers and whimsical, lovely nameplates. We welcomed French workaway guests and now we are saying goodbye to close friends. We will very much miss their joie de vivre , energy and humour, and meticulous work and politeness and their desire to get the project finished for us however long it took. And their cooking, and all the tasks they kept adding on to the main project—the list goes on and on.
Safe travels and please come back soon Laurent and Marie.
Dallas and John were a ray of sunshine in our journey! We immediately felt like we were with family, we could talk about anything, they were careful and eager to share their knowledge!

Eli and Héloise were like a breath of fresh air. They were careful and thorough in their work and approached things in a logical way. They completed some important projects for us and we will remember them when we look at the results. They were warm and natural, and funny and fitted into our household routines very well. Nika had a very short stay with us, as she had transport trouble and needed to be closer to town. We were not sorry we agreed to have her stay. She worked more than the normal hours and managed to clean and paint our big bridge with a non-slip paint which has stopped us from many slips and falls because it has rained every day since she left. It is like magic. Whenever we want a particular type of job done it seems our Workaway guests arrive and have the perfect skill set for what we need. Among other tasks Luisa worked on creating large garden beds; weeding, composting, mulching, and preparing for planting. She did a perfect job. She was thorough and careful. She created well-spaced,
… read more stable, concrete-pave edging around the beds and was also strong and fit enough to dig out and remove old weed matting that was caught under the roots of trees. The finished beds look neat and professional.
As a guest, Luisa was a great conversationalist, was relaxed and straightforward and lots of fun to have around. She was happy to participate in all the tasks we do in a day (including loading donkey poo into the trailer) and above all she was neat and tidy. Luisa took full advantage of the culture and history of our town, walking miles every day to enjoy everything the town offers. Things are very quiet now she has gone and we really miss her sunny, always cheerful personality and her hilarious insights into German language and country life in Germany. Go well Luisa.

Staying in the barn was just the cherry on top of it all!
Every second spent with Dallas and John was a delight. We loved how many stories they shared with us about their lives and their travels. The food was great as well. We especially enjoyed the japanese cooking and the italian inspired dishes as well as the classic kiwi recipes.
We can both say that we have learned a lot and are taking home only pleasant memories with us.

Vanessa and Paul were a beautiful young couple and a delight to host. They were everything we were looking for in Workaway guests. They had many interests, many of which were in common with our own. They worked with enthusiasm and good energy, were appreciative of our efforts to make them comfortable, and were neat and tidy in their work and life.
