Lewis is delightful company. He has excellent manners and etiquette. He is interesting and informative in conversation. We usually play music as a backdrop to every evening meal. He enthusiastically shared our interest in diverse genre and artists from around the world. Lewis was intrigued by artists new to him and, in exchange, introduced us to other artists from Latin America.
Lewis likes physical exercise and enjoyed some hiking excursions during his days off. All too soon his time with us came to its end and he departed for a preplanned rendezvous in another city with friends.
We can thoroughly endorse and recommend Lewis to anyone looking for an adaptable, hard working and intelligent workawayer.

She was conscientious and careful with the tasks she undertook for us. Over several days Ketlen was scaling scaffolding to paint a pergola. This was an impressive feat that produced excellent results. We always preface any job by asking
… read more if a person is OK with the remit. Ketlen enthusiastically accepted the challenge to work on the scaffolding.
She is very adept with computer technology and was able to help us by, seemly effortlessly, installing a programme we were able to use shortly afterwards.
We asked Ketlen to share accommodation in our studio. She has a remarkably intuitive ability to get on well with people. Her easy benign manner and warm smile created a relaxed atmosphere everyone enjoyed. The jobs got done and we all had fun together.
Ketlen is well travelled and a lively, knowledgeable and interesting person in conversation. The evening meals were a convivial time, rounding off the day of successful progress being made around our home.
Ketlen was the first Brazilian we have hosted. She was a great ambassador and we hope to encounter more of her compatriots in the future. It would be wonderful for her to make a return visit. ”You know you want to!”

The work is not difficult, and it is as described here, 5 hours a day with 2 days free per week. I mostly did some painting work, which I really liked. We hung out to know some charming villages around and spent a lot of time together. If you're thinking of volunteering with them, go, because I'm sure you won't regret it.

Ayelen came to us as a last minute invitation. As well as her great personality she also brought a wealth of knowledge and practical experience of the exact problems we were wanting to solve. For us, it was a wonderful timely encounter.
Ayelen worked tirelessly. Physically she worked on construction projects in the grounds. In addition, on her
… read more own initiative, she would research on-line for materials and methods appropriate to the schemes of work. The guidance Ayelen provided made the installation of a new gate to the garden much better planned and executed. Our other big concern was to improve drainage in some areas. Again, Ayelen was there for us, with informed advice, planning and hands on work to accomplish a working system. To top off her invaluable contribution to our project, before leaving, Ayelen gave us comprehensive guidance notes for future work. These notes were accompanied by detailed customised drawings produced with a CAD programme. She even consulted with an engineer in Buenos Aires to get a second opinion and more good ideas! Industrious and conscientious, Ayelen was a delight and a pleasure to work with.
Around the dining table we exchanged anecdotes and opinions on a great range of subjects. Ayelen is very knowledgeable and we enjoyed learning a lot more about her native Argentina. Ayelen was easy for us to accommodate at mealtimes because she happily ate a wide variety of Gill's plat du jour! She was always polite and cheerful, especially with the music. We were happy playing a lot of tunes with Spanish lyrics including, of course, Carlos Gardel! Ayelen was very practical in the house, helping clearing up after meals and cleaning her room on her own volition.
No task appeared to daunt her. We unhesitatingly commend Ayelen to anyone and her cheerful attitude is a pleasure to share.
For us, it will be delightful to meet Ayelen again in the future, near or far, and maybe meet her sister too!

Wow, where to begin... First of all with a huge THANK YOU to Steve and Gill, for theirs hospitality, for the time shared, for amazing meals, for being always available to help me and for making me feel super comfortable since I first contacted them. They're very responsible with Workaway, they answer quickly and are always available for
… read more communication before arrival, which I think it's quite important.
I spent three weeks with them, and we had some work done (we put an entry gate, and we did looooots of digging for solving a rain problem). Sometimes it was harder than others, but I enjoyed it very much, not only for the satisfaction that finishing a task gives, but also because we had lots of fun while working.
Steve and Gill are a lovely couple, they get along with each other very well and that makes a great environment both during work and off work; Gill being very patient and organised, making this amazing caceroles and lasagnas and much more, everything DELICIOUS! Steve, making lots of jokes all the time (and laughing about them!), always with his music from here and there, absorbing musical culture from workawayers, and sometimes playing argentinian music to please me :) They remember all of the workawayers that have worked with them and they have plenty of stories to tell, something that I find great because they really want to share experiences, and not only have people working with them.
I think we had a great time together, I hope seeing you again eventually, if Planets align :P

Both Steve and Gill have so much knowledge about the region (and France in general) which was great to hear. They gave me plenty of ideas on places I might like to go and visit. They let me use one of their bikes in the evenings and on my days off which was really good of them. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay with them and would recommend them to anyone. Rob is a credit to his Irish, being charming and engaging with his conversation. He has been about the world to a number of countries, and continents, sometimes working and other times as a traveller. With his artistic eyes Rob has good observational skills and is perceptive. His anecdotes and appreciation of life in Ireland and abroad are great to listen to.
Rob enjoyed riding one of our bikes to have an exercise workout. He is a healthy eater who appreciates the flavours of the food and wine. He is easy and gracious at mealtimes, careful without being fussy about his diet. He really liked the fruit ripened in the Mediterranean sun. Sport is something he thoroughly enjoys and has particular interests in Rugby, Gaelic Sports and most of all Boxing.
Polite and well mannered, we were delighted to be his hosts and would commend Rob to anyone.

They were dependable and independent during their free time. Mariano and Andrea are both fit and active. Extensive use was made of the bikes we have here, exploring all points of the compass in the countryside and nearest city. On one trip they found a piano in a wine cave and, with permission, proceeded to play and sing a Tango. Mariano and Andrea are great guests if you like music. They have good knowledge of all kinds of styles, idioms and artists. Their playing is wonderful. Another passion when travelling is filming a travelogue. They have great talent with the editing and composition to produce an original and entertaining pieces.
With good and interesting conversation over meals, we can recommend Mariano and Andrea to any host that likes a bit of fun while the work gets done to your utmost satisfaction.

They were always polite and engaged us with very interesting and amusing conversation at mealtimes. We learned a lot about their country of Mexico and how beautiful it is. During their stay with us Aldo and Daniela made a day excursion to Carcassonne. They thought it was a marvellous place. We are pleased that, like us, they found it enchanting to wander around its walls and streets.
We had another workawayer of a different nationality with us at the same time and they blended well with him. We all enjoyed our time together exchanging anecdotes and opinions.
We would commend Aldo and Daniela to anyone who wants to have a good experience as host to two cheerful and capable guests.

He likes and knows about all sorts of music, especially the icon, Jose Larralde. While with us he was interviewed live by a radio station in Argentina. That was a rare and exciting occurrence for us. We were so pleased for him.

… read more talent, we were concerned about the heavy work we had asked him to perform with his hands. He remained cheerful and said the work was good for him because he was strong and could cope with the demands.
It was delightful to share the tasks and other times with Wilmer. He was always polite, gracious and is a very intelligent young man. At mealtimes he was great with his conversation. We learnt about interesting aspects of Colombia and exchanged anecdotes on many topics. He was quick to see the funny side of things and we all enjoyed a lot of laughter together.
During his time here, with a little help from us, he was able to arrange a rendezvous with his girlfriend, Alejandra. She was as charming as Wilmer.

Aimee is a very observant person in many ways, especially including her observation of good manners and maintaining a polite disposition.
Aimee paid close attention to the requirements of each task presented to her and brought an admirable attention to the detail. There was an evident pride in the work and a desire to see it through to a conclusion. A lot of time and effort was devoted to every task.
Before arriving with us, Aimee had planned ahead and pre-booked a bargain flight back to the U.K. If this had not been arranged, we would have welcomed her to stay longer with us.

He was very careful and tidy with any task we asked of him. When we were in a quandary about dealing with a tree, he emailed his father in Argentina and we received a diagram back that showed us the method we needed! Nothing it seems is too much trouble for Matias.
We would unhesitating recommend Matias to any host. We will miss you.

Jordan is also a convivial conversationalist. He has a knowledge that has diversity and depth. The knowledge on films and music is positively encyclopaedic. His radio presenter training is evident in the effortless way he trips across topics like a concert pianist rippling around a keyboard.
We also admired the way he loved his own family and country, Canada. Travelling and sampling many countries is splendid. To be able to know where your home is and appreciate it just as it is, we think is especially commendable. Thank you Jordan, you brought our project back on track.

Lunchtimes and dinner were enliven by her repartee of stories and observations about life, the universe and everything.
As a guest she blended into the household beautifully. Our son, who visited us while Virginia was with us, felt like he'd met another sister, more than a house guest. They got on famously.
The legacy of her work here will stay, but we do miss her personal presence after she left us to add another chapter to her adventure in Europe.
