Last info 01.06.2024: we have some people for this summer. Thank you for your interest. Maybe we will need someone in September or October. If so, info will be updated.
Hello, my name is Xavier. I am a teacher, sports coach and sports manager. I travelled a few years ago during which I
volunteered/”workawayed” in certain places as well as being hosted by kind and very interesting people. I always wanted to do the same for others but was too busy/unstable until now and didn’t have a proper place for people to stay.
My fiancée and I have a big 4 year old White Swiss Sheperd that is really kind and friendly with kids and people. When we work a lot or have to go outside of Switzerland, we always find a way to have him with us or leave him with some family/friends. But it is not convenient for longer times. This summer and other moments of the year we are going to be very busy and I have decided that maybe it is time to give an opportunity to some travelers who like nature and animals and who are in need of a break from moving around so much to just stay at one place for a few weeks (Yes I know this, traveling is fun but also not having something stable for more than a few days for too long can be exhausting).
Consequently, this workaway consists of taking care of our dog and living in our yurt in the Nord Vaudois Jura mountains (it is at 1212m high, the highest mountains here are at around 1570m, it is not like the Alps). There are plenty of walks in the forest, mountains, little streams, waterfalls and small canyons. You can also cycle around or do mountain bike. Our dog loves hugs but can also leave you alone if you need to study or work online.
Last February, we hosted a couple from Argentina and Chile and it was fantastic for them to just chill out in our yurt and enjoy the snow with our dog. The cultural exchange was also great.
- one/two persons or a couple are welcome
- Car/motobike, bicycle, camping car welcome
- Pets welcomed if there are no problem with our dogTipos de ajuda e oportunidades de aprendizado

Before leaving you with the dog, I will obviously take the time to show you how to take care of him and show you different places. In the beginning of July, I will have to build a few things inside and outside of the yurt. We have recently moved out and there is still some stuff to take out and sort.
So, help is welcomed there. What is important for me at that moment is to share knowledge, cultural aspects, food (my fiancée and I are both vegetarian but don't mind if you aren't) and showing you the beautiful nature of the Nord Vaudois.Ajuda

Unless we are there at the beginning of July, you will have the yurt all to yourself. There is a double sized bed on the mezzanine, couch, two desks, table, fully equipped kitchen, plenty of books, fridge, beamer for home cinema, internet, a terrace with a sofa and table. This yurt is in a campsite. During the night, you will experience the silence of nature (except in summer you can hear the cow bells).
You have chemical toilets in the yurt, as well as a 25L tank water for the sink and a 25L grey water tank. These need to be emptied and refilled every few days depending on your consumption. You also have access to the camping facilities (reception, toilets, showers, ping pong, pétanque, different board games, etc.).
Our yurt is a good place to meditate, relax, study, create, eat, be in peace, read, workout, etc.Algo mais...
The camping is in the middle of nature but is more connected to the world than other similar places 😊. There is a road and public transport that goes to it a few times per day. 12-15 min away, there is a train station in Sainte-Croix that can take you to Yverdon and then you are connected to the rest of Switzerland or airports.
There are many sites you can visit, walk, run, cycle. There are also many mountain restaurants and Sainte-Croix is a little town with restaurants, a cinema, museums, shops and two supermarkets. Within walking distance, there is a little grocery shop in the nearest village. Twenty min walk or 3-4 min by car, you have a public swimming pool and also a hotel with minigolf, tennis, swimming pool, hammam/sauna area.
The dog loves running and walking, but you can also leave him for 3-9 hours if you want to do something without him.Mais alguns detalhes
