  Hi! We are Claudia and Shane,
  
  We have recently moved from the UK to Spain. We lived in Manchester for over 20 years where we worked and raised our family. Originally we are from Germany and Zimbabwe. We are now in the beautiful South of Spain, las Alpujarras (South of the Sierra Nevada National Park - Granada province, Andalusia) to live a different lifestyle on our small farmstead. In the last few months we worked on the land, have started planting and just in general got our house and the surrounding ground ready for permanent living. We own two cortijos on two acres of land and want to turn the land around the second house into a beautiful area for our friends and visitors. Ideally, we are looking for a couple or more people instead of one Workawayer.

  The help we need is for our private accommodation and homestead. There are no tasks related to rentals and/or paying customers.
  
  The Alpujarras are known for their laid back atmosphere and you can find rural Spain here in the white washed mountain villages. We love the place and want to turn our "piece of heaven" into a retreat for ourselves and our visitors. This could include you :)
  
  While we need to do a lot of work on the land to get it ready, both houses are in good condition and can be lived in right away. One of them is where you would stay in private and hopefully enjoy your time on our farmstead.
  
  We believe this is a special place, with a peaceful atmosphere for everyone to escape the busy every day live, be close to nature (see the sun rise, the moon cycles, mountains, trees, birds...) and let yourself rest and recharge while you stay here.

  Oportunidades de intercâmbio cultural e aprendizado

  We speak a little Spanish and are still learning... we want to integrate with the local community and love the cultural events in the surrounding villages. It would be great to take you along on our excursions. We have Spanish neighbours and friends in the village and take part in regular activities like language classes and yoga.
  
  We are keen to share everything we have learned so far and welcome any input. We can take you along to local activities and are like to visit the countless fiestas in our village and the surrounding area.
  
  Saturdays you can join us for a walk/hike or to the beach and maybe have a drink and some tapas while we’re out - or do your own thing.
  Sunday is a day to rest and sometimes we go to the village and have a meal or drink. Which you are welcome to join or do whatever you like… the cost of the meals in restaurants and alcohol in general are not included!
  
  There are several bars in the village next to us and you can enjoy your evenings going out or chilling at your cortijo.

  Ajuda

  Possible help includes:
  - Planting, Weeding, cutting back vegetation, strimming and landscaping, harvesting,...
  - Setting up and operating irrigation system for plants, trees and pool (in construction)
  - Construction of Carport, shaded area near the casa, Water Storage deposits, Chicken run,…
  - Painting, small renovation work
  - Any creative input and ideas welcome to make our place nice
  - Let us know if you have any special skills and we are happy to discuss what work would be useful for us and satisfying for you to share :)
  
  We need you to be able to do (at least some) physical work and any skills in the above would be greatly appreciated!
  
  These are the projects we are planning to work on in the next few months.
  Details can be discussed and agreed. Any questions let us know.
  
  Working times depend on the season, but you won’t have to work more than 5 hours a day for five days a week. Most of the time probably 3 hours before and 2 after lunch. Length of Lunch breaks will depend on how hot it is. There will definitely be lots of time to relax and enjoy your finca (cortijo) and terrace ☀️

  Acomodação

  Accommodation:
  You will stay in your private cortijo with large terrace and outside area. Two bedrooms (1 double bed & 1 with two single beds), kitchen, bathroom, living room with chill out area and tv.
  We would expect that you look after your accommodation and leave it as you've found it. Washing machine, Fridge and cooking facilities for your personal use.
  
  WiFi provided. Good mobile signal available.
  
  We provide you with ingredients for a simple breakfast which you can prepare in your kitchen and enjoy at your house or more likely on your terrace with a fantastic view.
  We make a simple lunch (mainly vegetarian using whatever we can from our own land) which you can help to prepare if you’re not otherwise busy.
  
  We will prepare a cooked evening meal (vegetarian possible, unfortunately we can’t provide full vegan meals at the moment).
  
  Saturday and Sunday are the weekend and you won’t have to work. We will provide basic ingredients so you can cook/cater for yourselves.

  We are available for you to join us from 15th April (a few weeks during the year are already booked). Please contact us with availability. We are looking for people to stay for about two weeks. If you´d like to stay longer and we have availability we can agree an extended period. If you have skills in any of the jobs mentioned above, we would be willing to agree on a one week stay - if that is your preference.
  
  We are not specialists at the work we do like gardening, building and landscaping but we give things a go and if you want to figure it out with us and are happy to do some physical work, we’d appreciate the effort 😊
  
  We live 15 minutes walk from Valor, our village, which has a small shop, pharmacy, post office, bank and a few restaurants and bars (opening times vary) and Municipal Swimming pool in the summer. The main attraction to this place is that it is peaceful, relaxed with traditional Spanish surroundings. Great place for walking/hiking and to escape the busy every day life.
  
  Pick up from nearest bus station is included. If you need to be picked up at the airport (Almeria or Malaga) we need to charge for fuel. We are happy to give you a lift to a larger town to do shopping and/or to the beach (one hour drive) once a week during your stay.
