    Descrição

Welcome to our sub tropical paradise in northern New South Wales just 20 minutes from the eclectic town of Nimbin.

We have just moved onto a small acreage on the edge of the forest with plenty of wildlife visiting us every day. Here you can wake up to the birds singing and see wallabies lazing on the grass, with the occasional visit of lizards and echidnas. We are off grid, collect our own water and are establishing our food supply. We have many fruit trees and are setting up our veggie garden using natural organic methods.

There are walking tracks from the back yard into the forest and down to the large dam where you can swim on a hot day. This property is perfect if you are looking for some solitude as there is limited internet and phone reception, although you can usually find a signal a short walk from the house.

As we have just moved here we have plenty of projects that we are working on. We are currently planting the orchard which will need regular mulching, pruning and soil improvement throughout the year. We are setting up a new vegetable patch so will be building a fence to keep the wildlife out, making compost to build up the soil fertility (we also keep worms for this). We are also renovating and painting the house, building a potting shed, making a pottery studio, making steps and creating garden paths, building an outdoor bath, making a tool shed and building a yoga deck. There is plenty of choice and we hope that you will find something you enjoy doing while you stay with us and will appreciate any input and expertise that you have to share.

We have travelled a lot and engaged with lots of volunteer work around the world on our travels. We have loved what these experiences have taught us and have been enriched by them and we hope to be able to provide you with a memorable positive experience during your stay. Most of the time we will be happy to work with you on the projects, but if there are two of you and you have a good understanding of the task we will be happy to leave you to work alone.

Our schedule will depend on the season and the daily weather, but there is plenty to do indoors and out both for work and relaxing. As per workaways suggestion we ask for 4-5 hours a day 5 days a week and in exchange we will welcome you into our family and provide a comfortable room in the home for yourself as well as 3 meals a day. We eat a simple plant-based diet and would prefer no meat be eaten in the house, however, we plan to build an outdoor bush kitchen so you will be free to cook meat there. If you don’t have your own transport we can pick you up or drop you off in town on a Wednesday.

    Algo mais...

We are about a 20 minute drive from the closest town, Nimbin, which is a small village with most things you may need. We can pick up or drop off on Wednesday, the local market day. The backyard is a forest so you can spend time in nature, you will see wallabies in the garden and you can relax or practice yoga or meditation by the water. This is a paradise for someone who likes being in nature. There is a creek to cool down in on a hot day and plenty of wood for a fire if its cold.

Some things to be mindful of during your stay: as we love our wildlife we cannot accommodate any dogs or cats; we are on solar so using electrical items depends on how much sunshine we have; we do not use any harsh chemicals on the land including cleaning and washing products so please be mindful of your products during your stay (we recycle our water onto the garden), we rely on rainwater so we need to be careful with how much water we use.

We've had a number of workawayers arrange to stay and then cancelled last minute due to lack of transport. There are daily buses from Lismore and Murwillumbah and possibly Byron Bay. Please check this before you request to stay. If you are staying a couple of weeks or more, we may be able to drop you off in Lismore, Kyogle, Murwillumbah, Brunswick heads, Mullumbimby or Byron Bay. Please let us know that you understand the transport situation when you contact us, thank you :)
