    Descrição

I am a 50-ish woman with a sweet St. Bernoodle dog named Bailey, living in an idyllic setting on the granite shore of a quiet bay on the Lee River in Lac du Bonnet, Manitoba, Canada. I enjoy sharing life with family and friends, old and new, and find no greater joy than to spend time at home making memories.

My acreage offers opportunities for canoeing, kayaking, swimming, hiking, fishing, biking, and ATV trails all directly from the property. And after all the busyness is over, there are also plenty of private spots to forest bathe and find peace and tranquility among the trees and wildlife, or have a fire on the stone patio, or soak in the large hot tub on the deck nestled into the treetops while watching the colours of the setting sun fade into the trees. Nearby, within 20 minutes drive, we have access to the Trans-Canada trail, 3 golf courses, Pinawa Dam park, the Pinawa channel float, sandy beaches, and transportation to remote fishing camps via local outfitting companies, for both day trips and longer excursions.

I am from a Mennonite background and would love to share foods unique to our culture, and as a bit of a foodie, would also love to experience something new! Simple sewing and quilting is one of my hobbies and I would be happy to teach about the craft if someone is interested.

The city of Winnipeg is an hour away and offers a large variety of cultural experiences including theatre, music, museums, and art, which can be explored as per one's preference and availability during the time of the stay.

Recently, I made a career change from teaching students with intellectual disabilities and Autism to teaching elementary music in a French immersion school. The most interesting bit about this shift is that I knew basically zero French when I began my job! However, I have always thought I would like to learn French and am slowly adding to my French language skills as I interact with people and learn songs to teach my students. I am very much a beginning French speaker and would love the opportunity to practice during my summer! As a teacher, I would also be happy to support English language learning for those coming to stay with me.

  • Acomodação

    Acomodação

The home is comfortably heated and cooled by a geothermal system. There is a main bathroom with tub/shower, and the master bedroom has it's own water closet, vanity area, and large jetted tub. Accommodations could include a bedroom with large windows looking onto the yard and water, a cozy loft space with a view of the treetops, the unfinished lower level with views to the water and separate entrance, or the master suite itself, depending on the needs of the visitors and the arrangements that are made.

The bedroom is currently only curtained off, as one of the tasks I am looking for help with is to install garden doors to this space. It has a twin bed that can be opened to an (almost) king sized bed as needed. Storage includes two large dressers and drawers under the bed. There are hardwood floors and heavy velvet curtains on the large bay windows for room darkening as needed.

The loft is also curtained off and has a small carpeted staircase. There is a platform with room for a queen bed and a twin side by side. Ceilings are low and slanted over the bed platform. There is a 9 drawer built in dresser for storage. It is completely finished in cedar with a cozy hobbit like vibe.

I am willing to offer the master suite either until one of the other spaces is completed with closing and locking doors, or for the whole stay, as per arrangements made during preparations for the stay.

If space and a separate entrance are of more value than aesthetics, the newly excavated lower level with heated concrete floors and windows with a view to the water is also an option. This space is also on the list of possible projects for this summer! There is lots of hanging storage and a dresser would be provided as well.

I am happy to have shared meals when possible, and you will have access to the food available in my home. If there are any dietary preferences not accommodated by what I have, I would ask that you provide for yourself.

The public spaces of the home will be shared during your stay. There is a large living/dining area and a comfortable new kitchen.

We are not in a location with access to public transportation, however if you wish to rent a vehicle I am able to help you arrange that as well.

I have lots of room for any size of camper, with one spot right by the water with hydro and lake water availability. (No sewer dumping on the property but available within a 15 min. drive.) Would be a great way to enjoy this property!
