Summer Workaway near Valencia – dogs, garden & countryside life ☀️🐶
Hi! I'm Patrick (43) from the Netherlands and I live on a beautiful 2,100m² countryside property just outside Valencia, Spain.
For the summer months from May to September, I'm looking for an enthusiastic, hands-on Workawayer who would enjoy becoming part of daily life here for a few weeks.
The property consists of my private home and three separate guest houses. I live here together with my three dogs and eleven chickens, and with a large garden, swimming pool, terraces and plenty of outdoor space, there's always something going on, especially during summer.
The guest houses are rented out, but this Workaway is focused on helping me with daily life around my home, animals, garden and property. I already have people who take care of cleaning and professional maintenance.
I'm looking for someone who genuinely enjoys animals, outdoor living and helping out with the everyday things that come with living on a large countryside property.
What you'll help with
Every day is a little different, but typical things include:
Walking, feeding and spending time with my three dogs 🐶
Feeding the chickens, refreshing their water and collecting eggs 🐔
Watering plants and helping around the garden
Gardening and landscaping projects
Painting and small DIY projects
Keeping terraces, paths and outdoor areas looking nice
Helping with little projects around the house and property
Generally being an extra pair of hands when something needs doing
You don't need professional experience. Common sense, initiative and a positive attitude are much more important.
Some days we might work together on a garden or DIY project, while other days it's mainly looking after the animals, watering plants and doing a few small things outside.
The idea is that you become part of everyday life here rather than following a strict work schedule. There will also be plenty of time to relax, explore the area or do your own thing.
Who I'm looking for
You'll probably be a good fit if you:
Genuinely love dogs and animals
Enjoy being outdoors
Like practical, hands-on work
Don't mind getting your hands dirty
Can see when something needs doing without always having to be asked
Are reliable and responsible
Enjoy countryside living and don't need to be in the middle of a city every day
Being comfortable with dogs is particularly important. My dogs are a big part of my life and are around you every day, so I'm looking for someone who actually enjoys their company rather than someone who simply "doesn't mind dogs".
Life here ☀️
The property is surrounded by countryside, while Valencia is around 25 minutes away. There are also lots of villages, hiking routes and beaches to explore.
During summer, most of life happens outdoors. There's a swimming pool, a large garden and several terraces where you can relax. I regularly go walking with the dogs in the surrounding countryside, and you're always welcome to join.
There's fast and reliable Starlink internet, so the place can also work well if you do some remote work during your free time.
The atmosphere here is informal and relaxed. There isn't a strict daily schedule, we work around the animals, the weather and whatever needs doing that day. A little flexibility is therefore important.
I'm simply looking for one enthusiastic person who enjoys animals, nature and outdoor living and would like to become part of life here for a while.

I have 3 dogs 🐕, Guus (male 7 years), Leo (4 years) and Ruska (17 years female) and all very friendly and social. Essential that you love dogs, because they will be around. I also have 8 chicken ladies.
