Detalhes
Descrição
We are a busy couple (no kids) who own a a beautiful equestrian facility located in the Shuswap at the north end of the Okanagan Valley. We are currently in need of helpers with construction skills to assist with many of the small projects that are planned for construction. Because we both have day jobs separate from the stable, either couples or people who do not mind working independently are preferred.
We are only minutes from downtown Salmon Arm and the Trans-Canada Highway. We are very close to Shuswap Lake and within walking distance to the Larch Hills Mountain Bike and Hiking Trail network. 1 hour drive to Silver Star ski hill.
We enjoy positive people who are helpful, self motivated and have a good sense of humour. We always need lots of help and love hosting. We have been hosting since 2010, though we have taken a break from hosting while building our new house. Please check out the reviews that other helpers have left for us, as well as our website and facebook page. We are very flexible on how long the work term is if the fit is right. Riding and horse care is not part of the daily work.
All food and accommodation is provided (includes access to wifi, TV, AC, etc.). Sharing the responsibility of cooking evening meals is a fun way for us to connect. If you like laugh and enjoy good food, we will love you! You will have your own room with a queen sized bed.
We are always in need of help so don`t be shy and send us an email if our property sounds like somewhere you`d like to spend some time because we`d love to hear from you :)

The majority of the work is outdoors and very diverse. Currently we are looking for people with construction experience as there are many small projects planned in addition to keeping the facility running and looking its best. Daily tasks are diverse with a selection to choose from. Handling and working with horses is not required. We love meeting new people and offer a fun cultural exchange opportunity.
We enjoy people who love to experience new things and help out. We like to laugh and enjoy a sense of humour and we're looking for someone who loves to have a laugh as well. Happy to receive couples as well as singles.
Any help around the house will be greatly appreciated, including cooking evening meals.Idiomas

At first I stayed for one month at King and Sonya's Place. But because I like that month so much, I came back for another month later on my trip.
I joined them for their weekly family dinner or meeting friends and neighbors . They ALL are very lovely and kind people and I felt like a part their family.
I also really… read more

I spent about 3 weeks with King and Sonya. In this time, I spent about 3-5 hours a day working on other tasks, including weeding, cooking and shopping, bringing horses Out or in, preparing the riding grounds but there was enough time to chat with all the people aurond the stable. On the… read more
If you enjoy carpentry or driving lawnmowers, quadbikes, skid-steers and dumper trucks as I do, you'd do well to spend a few weeks with them! I was trusted with plenty of machines, most I hadn't previous experience with, and enjoyed getting to use them.… read more
The property is beautiful. Everything was full of snow when I arrived and I remember that the sky looked huge.

There was always something to do on the stable, from gardening, building sheds and benches, cocking, painting. We loved it.
