    **DATES NOW FILLED**

We're looking for 1-2 feisty ferret lovers with previous experience of ferrets or a similar unusual pet/ farm animals to look after our 2 rescue ferrets. We'd would love to welcome up to two ferret sitters (a couple , family or two friends who don't mind sharing a room) and settle them into our routine before we go!

    DESCRIPTION:

Are you real hands on animal enthusiast, not bothered by smells and animal poop (ferrets are stinky!) confident handling small animals and have you had previous experience with ferrets or similar? Are you also looking to spend a week exploring the beautiful city of Edinburgh? This could work for you!

    PLEASE KNOW THAT:

***Ferrets are higher maintenance than cat sitting, so please read and consider carefully before messaging us! *** This really needs someone who is crazy about all animals big and small, doesn't mind smell or animal poop, and doesn't mind sharing their space with small creatures and has some previous experience.

Jobs Needed Each Day (approx 3-4 hours a day e.g: 8am-9.30am and 7pm-8.30pm):

    -Litter tray cleaning,
    - feeding and cage cleaning
    -poop scooping!
-Short lead walks in quiet streets by our home
-Supervised free play in the house morning and evening

    About the Ferrets:

Crash and Tumble are 4 year old rescued ferrets, who are used to being picked up and handled. They like people and are very curious and love playing with each other in their tunnels and boxes and hiding around the house, trying to get into all the rooms they are barred from! They love to get into everything (especially closed doors) chase each other and wrestle when feeling playful, and be taken around the neighbourhood for walks on a lead. Morning and evening are play time and they like to and create mischief if possible!
They will also follow you about! After this
the plus side is they will also sleep all day in their cage leaving you free to go out and about!

    A Few things to consider:

    * Ferrets are quite smelly!
*Ferrets are litter box trained but they sometimes forget this if excited!
*Our ferrets live in the house, so not ideal for anyone with allergies
    * Our ferrets are used to children but should not be left unsupervised with kids; though these two are gentle, ferrets can bite if scared or over excited!

Once your ferrety admin is done for the morning you will be free to explore our lovely city as they sleep all day. You just need to be able to come home to let them out again early evening for another play session. Then you can head out again to enjoy Edinburgh nightlife!

We realise this may take a special someone/ or a couple or family, who are playful at heart, experienced around small animals and willing to share a house with them and don't mind animal smells or poop!

    About Us:

We are a small family and live in a tiny upper cottage (known here as a "Colony Flat" ) in the beautiful city of Edinburgh, Scotland. We do everything we can in our work and home lives to help Edinburgh become a sustainable low carbon city. We travel by bike, eat local and veggie, use reclaimed materials for mostly everything and volunteer to protect the planet.

Our family works by day in a range of non profits across the city. Ellie works for an active travel charity and as a landscape and tree protection officer, whilst Simon works on a natural building projects and the rest of the time as a woodworker with a local school.

Our mission is to about proving that low carbon city living, eco DIY and redesign (making innovative and useful products from salvaged materials) is fun and possible for anyone!
We have a passion for travel, the outdoors, cycling and sustainable living, and love veggie and vegan food (except Sula who loves Pepperoni and fish fingers so not a 100 percent vegetarian household). We enjoy good company and the chance to swap skills and ideas. With too many day jobs it's sometimes a crazy juggling act so we welcome volunteers who bring energy, a sense of humour and who really want to make a difference, and are willing to be flexible to help us!

So, we are not your average city setup, more like a tiny farm or zoo! You've been warned! 😁
