Open to volunteers for Summer 2026.
Hello Katya here, Robin & Catherine's daughter.
I have taken over the main house and hosting workawayers.
This summer projects will be mostly gardening, garden care, light house painting and other random things that come up. x

We live 3 miles from Castledermot co. Kildare on a tillage farm in a house that was built by our family in 1775. It was originally a mill house so we still have the mill race for swimming. The garden around the house needs a lots of trimming down and replanting.
We also need help in the house with painting. -

This house is a heritage house that has been in the same family since it was first built in 1776. So there are many layers of family history. Workawayers benefit from the fact that it is a working farm, that we have a great vegetable garden and that I work as a sculptor as well as running this house. They would also realise that we are interested in culture, music the arts and above all conversation.

Help also welcome in the vegetable garden, also thinning saplings. Ability to use a small chain saw would be great and it would be an advantage if you could use a strimmer BUT its not a must.

We are really accessible to Dublin , Kilkenny, Waterford as there are plenty of trains and bus services. There are plenty of places to walk and we are very happy to drop people into the nearby town of Carlow.

I had a fabulous time in Millbrook. Millbrook and the surrounding itself is just gorgeous and if you enjoy being in nature, you’ll definitely love it here. There are enough places in Millbrook where you can relax outside, read a book, go for a swim in the millrace, and there are some good walks in the area as well. And Katya is absolutely lovely.

We were treated as a part of the family and given a good taste of being Anglo-Irish. We were also able to visit many tourist sites in the area due to the close proximity to Dublin, Kilkenny, and Carlow. The work is hard but satisfying and completely worth it because the cooking and accommodation are absolutely amazing.
