I am a costarican man who lives in Curridabat, Costa Rica . I am an artist, Photographer, DJ. audiovisual producer, and Mechatronic engineer. I am currently preparing an exhibition with some of my paintings and my music. I am also preparing two exhibition cars for my workshop. My city here is a very safe place. I am currently also working on a project on machines that make water from the air to solve the water crisis in many countries.
Work on designing and implementing sustainable renewable energy initiatives to improve the lives of people in vulnerable communities.

We are in need of hard-working interns with an interest and/or background knowledge/experience in renewables to help us in the implementation of these projects.

Current projects include:

Designing renewable energy solutions and implementing any add-ons or improvements to the existing systems.

Leading research and coming up with relevant mechanical and electrical solutions in the construction of wind turbines, solar distillers, and other potential renewable energy devices.

You will work directly with the directors to manage the budgets of materials required.

Learn from our educational seminars given by our Directors on topics including : NGO/social enterprise creation and management, marketing and outreach, research techniques, and more.

Getting involved in the upkeep of the projects.

Carrying out crowdfunding campaigns to raise funds for the implementation of more energy projects.

Organize and participate in electric bike tours

This volunteer internship is open to all disciplines but is most suited for those interested in or have experience in renewable energy. Undergraduates/postgraduates, PhDs and/or professionals are all welcome. However, we do also ask for:

- A background or personal motivation in engineering, electronics, renewable energy systems, sustainable development.
- Experience/motivation to work as part of a team.
- Open mind, positive attitude, and will to learn!

We are currently working on the construction of electric bicycles to organize tours

I had an interesting time with Álvaro during my visit to his project. He is a knowledgeable person in various subjects such as electricity, mechanics, robotics, music, and visual arts. I deeply appreciated Álvaro's inquisitive nature, which became evident when we encountered technical difficulties with equipment or while conducting software… read more research for our project. He consistently demonstrated perseverance in exploring every possible solution, delving into forums and websites. It's quite rare in my experience to find individuals who possess such unwavering determination, and it genuinely excites me because I believe it is how complex problems are effectively solved. Additionally, the flexibility in our schedules allowed us to collaborate on projects, especially during the night when I am most active.

He is a talkative person, and during our conversations, Álvaro shared his perspectives on various topics, engaging in discussions about society, personal life, and even offering valuable life and business tips that I found quite interesting. While most of our discussions were thought-provoking, it's important to note that Álvaro expressed some opinions or ideas that may not align with those who advocate for gender equality or hold feminist beliefs. It's worth considering that these remarks might make certain individuals feel uncomfortable.

If you value order and cleanliness, it's essential to communicate your expectations since Álvaro is involved in multiple projects that require having tools, materials and cables readily available. As a result, he maintains a more practical approach to organization and cleanliness. I personally can relate to this, as I also tend to have several projects simultaneously, so it didn't pose a challenge for me.

With that being said, I want to mention that the private room provided was cozy and well-organized, matching the description and photos in the profile. It offered a comfortable environment with a single bed, a desk, a wardrope and there was even a fan available, which was great considering the hot weather during my stay. It's worth noting that during the night, there can be some noise from passing trucks on the street. I recommend bringing earplugs if you have light sleep.

Álvaro tends to prepare simpler meals, which is something to take note of. However, this wasn't an issue for me as I also enjoy simple meals. If you have specific dietary preferences or requirements, it's important to communicate them beforehand. In my experience, whenever I requested additional ingredients, especially fruits that I love, Álvaro was more than willing to accompany me to get them.

At the end of my stay, I had the opportunity to participate in a workshop he organized with a Colombian friend who works in television. Initially, I mainly helped with preparing the music and materials for the event, as well as setting up lights and connecting necessary equipment. At first, I thought I would be more of an assistant since I wasn't exactly sure about the workshop's content. However, as the workshop unfolded, I found myself increasingly engaged, actively participating and learning alongside others. This experience exemplified Álvaro's network of contacts, which he has gained through his various professional endeavors.

Overall, my experience with Álvaro was enriching. I found him to be an interesting individual, especially when we explored subjects such as technology, AI, DJing, accessible energy, and overall innovation, areas in which his expertise truly excels. Álvaro was always respectful towards me, and I felt a sense of trust between us. I would recommend approaching your interactions with an open mind, appreciating the diverse perspectives and styles that people bring to the table.
