The 'Merkatu' is a monthly farmers market in our village, Testa Dell'Acqua close to Noto (South East Sicily). There are stalls of famers, artisans, second hand clothing, food, cultural activities for kids, teenagers and adults as well as live music. The market is outdoors and has become a meeting place for the community and visitors alike. Every last Sunday of the month from 10:00 am - 15:00 pm (June-July-August in the evening!) It is a perfect place for visitors in Sicily to meet residents of the area, connect to grassroots initiatives and enjoy a day out. Good for connecting and meeting new people. A lot of the foreigners living in the area are participating as well as the creative and artistic sceen of the territory. The objective of the event is to promote healthy food form sustainable farming, quality artisanship and do it yourself culture.

The Merkatu takes place in the small football filed in front of the church. Testa Dell'Acqua is very small so you cant miss it - you will ifnd the 'Jolly Bar' on google: it is just in front. Testa Dell'Acqua is a 20 minute drive from Noto, Palazzolo Acreide, 40 minutes from Siracusa an done hour from Catania,
