Hello to all the lovely people visiting my profile, I am Sophia (25 years, pronouns: she/her, they/them)

I am a mostly extrovert and funny person and really enjoy being in nature as well as being surrounded by lovely people. Also alone time and being quiet fulfills me a lot. As a balance in my life I like to be physically active and do things like cycling, strength and mobility training. I am currently putting my focus (political activism and social work studies) on standing strong for people and animals who are unseen and unheard . I will finish my bachelors in Berlin in winter this year. After that I am still figuring out what to do and where to go but I probably won´t stay in Berlin. I could see myself joining a bigger Sea Sheperd campaign or doing animal rescue full time for a while. In the long run I would maybe like to live on a boat for some years or live near the coast because i just LOVE water.

I stand strongly against any form of discrimniation and oppression (racism, sexism, ableism, transphobia, homophobia, speciesism ad the list goes on) so to make this short: No one is free until all of us are free! This applies for me to humans as well as animals! I also stand really critical against conspiracy theories and do not want to be in a place where people are denying climate change or other science based facts.
I am aware that we all are (obviously including me) in a process of learning and do not expect people to be „perfect“. If you act or speak in a discriminating way, please acknowledge and apologize. I value a non violent communication and like it when hierarchies are low.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

As a teenager I worked at family hotel for two years in a horse stable with a lot of horses, dogs, cats and goats. In 2022 I have been to Portugal for 5 months and did two workaways (animal sanctuary, horse care) and it was a beautiful experience because I connected deeply with all the animals, especially those that were rescued from farms etc. Doing animal care fulfills my heart so much and always puts a smile on my face. Back in 2022 these experiences convinced me again, that living vegan is the only right decision for me! I have been horseback riding for quite some time in my life but I would not do it again after improving my knowledge on veganism over the last three years.

Before Portugal I was in teacher training for kids with special needs and worked at multiple schools. I wanted to pause my studies but ended up with the decisions that I do not want to become a teacher. Right now I am looking forward to finish my social work bachelors and let‘s see what life brings after that.

In 2023 I did a workaway together with my partner in Austria that was super enriching for us. We learned a lot of renovating skills like insulating old stables, making clay walls, building a wooden carport for a caravan to live in and did basic work around the garden and the field like trimming grass, building fences, doing woodwork, etc. In general i really like being physically active and work with my hands.

Also beginning of 2025 I moved with my partner and friend into an old flat which we almost fully renovated. We made all the walls, built a kitchen and some wooden furniture like shelves and beds into the flat. So i mostly know my way around different tools and hope this can be for some use.

For the last two years I have been working in a shelter for homeless FLINTA* people in Berlin and am used to cooking bigger amounts of vegan food for like 10-15 people and would be happy to help out in the kitchen if needed. I won´t prepare any non vegan food and hope that is okay for future hosts. There is so much delicious plant-based food, let´s enjoy it!
