Hi, I’m Sakshi!
I’m 29, originally from India, and currently based
, Italy, where I moved in 2021 to pursue a master’s degree in Fashion and Textile. I’m a designer by profession and an artist at heart, with a deep love for nature, gardening, and sustainable living.

My main goal with Workaway is to immerse myself fully in Italian culture and improve my spoken Italian. I already have a basic level, and I’ve found that living with Italian families compels me to use the language daily—something that has helped me improve a lot in the past. I’d love to be with hosts who are happy to help me practice and gently correct me when I make mistakes.

Gardening is one of my greatest joys—something I deeply miss since leaving home. Nature has always been my biggest inspiration and the driving force behind much of my creative work. Through Workaway, I’m hoping to step away from the pace of city life, reconnect with the natural world, and contribute in a hands-on way—whether in the garden, around the home, or with creative projects.

I’m curious, open-minded, and happy to contribute however I can—whether it’s helping in the garden, assisting with creative projects, spending time with children, or lending a hand with everyday life. I’m excited to learn new skills, share stories, and create meaningful connections along the way.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My family owns a farm, back in India where I used to live. We spent a few months there every summer & it is here that my love for nature grew. i am very comfortable with farm animals & pets. Growing up, I spent a lot of time with dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters & hens. I have a high tolerance for insects, bugs, and spiders. They don't scare me :) neither does the idea of a simple lifestyle with basic meals. While I never practically did much of the farm work, I have a good idea of what goes into it.
I am excellent with growing & caring for plants! my parents & I together maintain an extensive urban garden in our home in the city.
I am an artist. I illustrate and do paintings in watercolour.
I am extremely fluent in English & while I don't speak much Italian I am eager to learn!
I know natural dying, eco printing, handloom weaving, block printing, embroidery & sewing. I'm very good with a needle & other crafts in general.
I can cook & I'm not picky about food (i love pasta). I eat most things: vegetarian, meat, seafood (though i grew up in a vegetarian household)
