Hi there,
Our names are Jan(31) and Hotaru(24). We are a Slovak/Japanese couple who are currently based in Canmore, working at a hotel as houseman/housekeeper.
We are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Jan:
After many years of sitting in an office chair, looking at a computer screen I decided to quit my job and plan to travel the world. I am eager to experience life on a Canadian farm or ranch, where I can learn how to care for animals. I am especially interested in horses and would love to learn how to ride them.
I am also interested in learning about the construction of tiny homes in the Canadian style. My long-term goal is to build my own tiny home, and I am keen to explore the minimalist and sustainable lifestyle that often goes hand in hand with this type of living.
Hotaru:
Hello! I'm Hotaru, a 24-year-old English major in Kyoto, Japan. Currently, I find myself in Canada, working in housekeeping and embracing the experience. I really like animals, and I take joy in discovering various cultures through meaningful encounters. The prospect of Workaway excites me as an opportunity to explore fresh challenges in different places. While my English isn't flawless, I'm comfortable with day-to-day conversations. I'd be delighted to contribute and support wherever possible. Thank you kindly! 🌸Centres d’intérêt

Jan:
I grew up in a family where we used to do things ourselves, so have some experience and basic skills with gardening, taking care of animals, choping wood, concreting, DIY home projects, etc.
I'm/I:
- confident in using powertools, chainsaws, strimmers, mowers, etc.
- can drive and have an international driver's license (categories A,B).
- not afraid to 'get my hands dirty'
Since I arrived in Canada, I've had the chance to try out construction work - siding. Right now, I'm working as a houseperson in a hotel.
Hotaru:
I'm currently working in housekeeping in Canmore, so I'm skilled in cleaning. Back in Japan, I have experience in customer service from working in food and retail, making me comfortable with interacting and conversing with people.
Additionally:
- I have some DIY experience from helping my father.
- I can take care of animals.
- I love children and am adept at interacting with them (volunteer experience related to children in Cambodia).Âge

No, we don't have any special dietary requirements. We eat basically everything. If we have the option to choose, we prefer minimally processed foods.
