Heya!

I'm India, I'm in my early twenties and from Melbourne, Australia. I'll be travelling through Canada from June with my housemates and am excited to be closer to nature, experiencing a bit of a change up from the busy city lifestyle we currently have. Being able to connect with others and learn or teach valuable skills is also a huge reason we're going down the work away route. This also allows for a more intentional lifestyle while taking in the natural beauty of Canada.

Back home I was working in hospitality but am interested in many other areas for work as well, especially communal and outdoorsy work. I would be very happy to help with gardening/general maintenance around the house or animal care. I can lend a hand in DIY or art projects and have experience in domestic housework such as cooking or cleaning. I am someone who works well both alone or with other people and am a pretty self-organised person.
I’m currently in The Yukon doing a work away on a homestead for the month of June, helping out in the garden and building a fence around the property

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I've got over 5 years of hospitality experience which has provided me with many skills that can be transferred across industries. Specifically interpersonal skills, problem solving, organisation, clear communication and time and self management. Hard skills include food handling, cleaning and bartending.
Growing up I participated in a scout club and learnt general physical/outdoorsy skills that can be of help gardening and building. Similarly my family spent a lot of time on house maintenance projects which meant I would help with painting, repairing fences, gardening etc. I’m currently doing a work away that involves building a fence around the property. Using a mini chainsaw, nail gun, drill, hammer etc..
I have some art skills as well. I know how to sew (both by hand and machine), knit and crochet and in my teen years took studio art classes.

Other interests I have is sport/physical activity. Growing up I did gymnastics and played netball up until last year. I also used to run a lot and am getting back into it after a short break.
I've always loved art and did it all throughout school. I enjoyed how hands on it is so took a main liking to clay and sculpture. I also love to sew, knit and crochet, spending a lot of time making myself and friends clothes and accessories.
Lastly I love to read in my downtime, my favourite genre being literary fiction. I'm part of a book club and really enjoy being able to delve into how a book makes you think/feel.
