Description
Hi my name is Hank! I'm taking time off from my livelihood as a contractor in the US, to travel and broaden my skillset. I would love to pivot my life's work into natural building and regenerative land management, so any opportunities to work more in those fields would be amazing. I also seek connection with other travelers, local communities and their cultures.
I love spending time in the backcountry, floating down rivers, hiking/skiing/climbing in the mountains, and seeking shade in the desert. I studied art, love all forms of it, and have been getting into plein air painting lately. I'm new to workaway, but have been in many work exchange situations and am comfortable with the arrangement.
I'm currently in Sydney visiting family, and will start hitchhiking down the coast to Melbourne on January 4th. I would love to stay, work and connect with people along the way. I have ~3 weeks of unstructured time until a meditation retreat in Tasmania on the 22nd. If I haven't ascended to some astral plane or been grown over with moss by the end of that retreat, I will be exploring Tasmania for another few weeks and I'm sure eager to meet folks. I intend to fly to Vietnam in late February, purchase a small motor bike and spend a month exploring Southeast Asia. After that will be determined by my dwindling bank account.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I earn my living as a tradesman, and have over a decade of experience in building structures and furniture. I am capable in most forms of woodworking, from rough framing to fine furniture. I am also experienced in metal fabrication and am competent in most welding techniques. I have some masonry experience, concrete work, and general handyman skills. Recently I've been learning as much as possible in the natural building world, and have some experience in hempcrete, plaster, timberframing and compressed earth blocks. I would love to learn more techniques, especially cob, adobe and bamboo. My experience in farming and gardening is limited, but I would love to learn more. I am also chainsaw certified by the US Forest Service, so reasonably capable at felling trees and clearing brush. I spent much of my adolescence doing landscaping and trail maintenance. I enjoy hard work and love to learn new skills!

I love music, dancing and general merriment. I also enjoy painting and drawing and hope to find more time to do so on the road. Always down for a board/card game. Always excited to play some sports, swim in a river, slackline, climb a tree, eat a piece of fruit. Always happy to be reading and meditating more, so I'm pretty low maintenance and content to spend time alone.
