Description

We are a married couple who want to travel in a way that allows us to meet and learn from local people about their communities, culture and work. We are both hardworking and energetic and have spent decades working in our fields. Steve is a painting contractor(housepainter). He has been doing this work for almost 40 years, so is quite knowledgable and good at it. He also has an understanding and experience in other aspects of building and construction. Amy has been working in the field of gardening, including commercial nursery work, organic vegetable farming and landscaping for 35 years. We both love what we do and get great satisfaction out of working. In fact we have found ourselves longing for some work to do on past travels!
We live in a small coastal town in Oregon, USA. We have traveled in Italy, Sweden, Denmark and Iceland and really enjoy meeting people wherevever we go. Amy also lived in Kenya, East Africa for a couple of years before she met Steve.
We have been Couchsurfing hosts and Warmshower hosts, and have hosted LOTS of people in our home from all over the world. We really enjoy making these personal connections. We are very interested in finding a Workaway in the region of Apulia, Italy. We are hoping to find a host that can make use of our skills and who can also help educate us about the area, especially gardening and building practices. Amy's great grandparents came to the USA from Apulia so exploring this area has heartfelt meaning to us.
So please don't let our ages scare you, Amy 55 and Steve 65, because we have done hard work our whole lives and still are strong, capable and open minded! We are also respectful and will take our resposibilities seriously and cheerfully.

Steve is a painting contractor, house painting, with decades of experience. He also has experience and knowledge in many other areas of building and construction.
Amy has spent her career working in gardening including commercial nursery work, organic vegetable gardening and landscaping.

Our hobbies are hiking, biking and swimming. Steve plays trumpet and loves his motorcycle. Amy loves knitting, felting and cooking. We also love playing tennis.
