Description
Hello! My name is Roisin and I am from the UK.
I quit my job working as a Civil Servant in December 2023 to take a 2 year career break to travel the world. So far I have been all over the world and loved using Workaway and other help exchange sites during this time.
I grew up in Libya, Egypt and Malaysia and since my childhood have had a keen interest in travelling. I studied my university degree in Liverpool, UK in Bioveterinary Science, where I further developed my passion for wildlife, animal science and animal care.
I love participating in team sports such as volleyball and netball, and enjoy yoga and pilates. I also find joy in outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, scuba diving and cycling.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I have just finished a working holiday visa in New Zealand where I ran a hostel and accommodation farmstay up in the far North. I have lots of experience with guest services, booking platforms, housekeeping, running activities events and general day-to-day jobs! I love living in a community and enjoy making connections with people from all over the world.
I am keen to get involved with DIY projects and would love to improve my current knowledge of gardening and plant care. During my travels so far I have been involved with lots of homesteading and farming projects and have thoroughly enjoyed learning how to grow and cook with local produce.
I have experience with house and garden renovation and look forward to sharing and developing my skills through Workaway stays. In Japan I spent time renovating a 116 year old traditional house where I did dry-walling and various woodwork using power tools.
I have always loved cooking and I am keen to learn more about local cuisine during my travels. I am an organised and tidy person, happy to get stuck into any daily jobs around the house.
I love working with children and have experience teaching English to Burmese refugees whilst living in Malaysia. l also worked as a camp counsellor in a summer camp in upstate New York for 2 summers, teaching canoeing, rock climbing, mountain biking, camping and hiking skills to children.
Animal husbandry and care is something I have a background in and am very passionate about. I would love to get involved with any animal related projects and love being in the company of pets. I’ve grown up with pets for most of my life and frequently pet sit for friends and have used dog walking apps such as BorrowMyDoggy.

Roisin was a great volunteer during her 6 weeks at the villa and a pleasure to have on our team. She was careful and thorough with the cleaning shifts. She learnt the job quickly and took initiative with anything that needed doing around the villa. She is friendly, helpful and approachable to guests and we would love to have her back anytime!

Roisin was a charm to work with... she baked the most amazing energy bars ;-)
She integrated really well with other workawayers and roommates becoming part of the family in no time.
She was great at picking up instructions and very reliable and independent in her tasks around the house.
