  • Description

    Hi there!
I'm Martina, an incurably curious Italian girl, born and raised in a small countryside village in northeastern Italy, called Cormòns.

Since 2021, I've been living in Venice...not quite the postcard version, but it still managed to steal my heart. I had dreamed of this city for years, always finding it inspiring and unique. As a child, I used to say I wanted to live somewhere you could see the stars, with the sea nearby, and a theatre just across the street. Somehow, I ended up with almost exactly that, minus a proper seaside... but hey, the lagoon does the trick!

To support myself through university and life, I’ve worked in quite a few different fields: I started with grape harvesting, moved on to catering, then worked in a traditional Venetian mask shop, pulled pints in a craft beer pub, and now I teach fresh pasta making.
Beyond that, I’d say I’m a pretty versatile person. I enjoy working and love learning new things. From time to time, I throw myself into new projects, which I like to call “side quests.”
So, you might wonder: what’s the "main quest"?
Well, I’d say… to live. To explore, to discover, to understand. I usually try to find my own words to explain myself, but just this once, I’ll borrow someone else's, hoping they’ll resonate with you too:
"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary."

I may not have one standout skill I can proudly present as my trademark, at least not yet, but I’m highly adaptable. I enjoy being challenged, and I thrive on learning how to adjust and respond to new situations, something I’ve come to see as a real strength of mine.

I won’t lie: my social batteries recharge when I’m on my own. I value solitude, and I think that also helps me respect that same need in others. I’d describe myself as a pretty respectful person in general, but also an hopelessly curious soul. Especially on sunny days (yep, totally weather-sensitive), I’m full of energy and eager to explore.
Distinctive traits? Apparently, an overly firm handshake and an extraordinary talent for stumbling into oddly entertaining situations...or so my friends say!

The truth is, I’ve always been drawn to stories: through books, RPGs (wanna play Dungeons and Dragons with me?), conversations, or music. I did theatre as a kid, joined an amateur musical group for a few years, and now I’m learning to play the electric guitar. I love writing, listening, and throwing myself into new experiences.
If something feels a bit challenging and slightly absurd, there’s a good chance I’m already halfway into it.

At the end of the day, I just want to step out of my comfort zone, meet new people, and learn as much as I can about everything I can wrap my head around.
So, if you’d have me, I sure feel ready for an adventure!

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I'm a curious and flexible person who enjoys getting involved, especially when there's something new to learn or try. Over time, I've had the chance to do a bit of everything: I’ve helped with the grape harvest, worked in a traditional Venetian mask shop (sales), taught fresh pasta workshops, worked in a craft beer pub, and done some catering. I’ve also done plenty of cleaning (honestly, in pretty much every job I’ve had), and after living alone for the past 5–6 years, cooking has become a regular part of my life, and something I actually enjoy now.
I’m also into small DIY projects and handmade work: I know how to bind books, work with leather, and for years I made jewelry like earrings and bracelets using beads and threads. I like fixing or building little things around the house and getting creative.
I’ve also volunteered in schools reading to kids (from preschool to middle school). Storytelling and inventing stories is, in fact, something I’ve always loved, and while I’ve never been a babysitter, I truly enjoy being around children.
As for languages, I’m a native Italian speaker, fluent in English and French, and I know the basics of German, Arabic and Hebrew. I like learning a few words of the local language in every place I visit, it’s part of how I connect with people. I’ve had the chance to travel to places like France, England, Ireland, Iraq and China, and those experiences taught me a lot about adapting to different environments and cultures. I genuinely enjoy connecting with people from different backgrounds and cultures, and I feel comfortable adjusting to new environments, whether urban or remote.

That being said, there are many things I’m still excited to learn. I’m completely in love with plants and gardening, even though I’m not very skilled at it (yet!). I’d love to learn more about organic farming and sustainable agriculture.
I absolutely adore animals; I’ve had a dog and a hamster, but I’d be thrilled to care for all kinds of animals and gain real hands-on experience.
I also want to deepen my DIY skills: carpentry, natural building, eco-projects...anything creative and hands-on sparks my curiosity!

In general, I’m very sociable and enthusiastic. My mind tends to work in a slightly chaotic way, but I’m highly detail-oriented and quite the perfectionist when it comes to the outcome of what I do. I'm always happy to help where I can, and even happier when I get to learn something new along the way, so give me the space to understand a task, and I’ll give it my full attention and energy!
