Committed to current stay in very north of Pays de la Loire until spring 2026. After that, visit in Finland at least for early summer is a must but otherwise our plans are open.

Description
We are an easy-going Finnish couple in our fifties, who have turned a new page in our life. Currently we are workawaying in Pays de la Loire, France until spring 2026. After that, no exact plans yet but need to visit Finland during next summer/autumn. If you consider that you might have an opportunity matching our profile and schedule, do not hesitate to make a contact!
For years we were working to make it possible to travel somewhere but dreamed about traveling somewhere for working there and getting new experiences. In summer 2023 we sold our house that we had owned for two decades, and pretty much everything we owned and moved to the countryside to look after a small cottage. In the beginning of November 2023, we packed all our belongings into our car and drove through Europe to Costa Blanca, Spain to house sit for winter - but worked remotely, still. After spending summer 2024 again in Finland, we resigned from our long-lasting jobs to make our dream true and stepped the workaway.
WHO ARE WE
We both have been working in IT, Joni on the nerd side of the fence in software development consulting and Birgit in the account management area.
But that has been only “9 to 5” part of our life. In our house we did all the renovation and maintenance one can do without official qualifications (Joni has some knowledge of electricity, though…), and we also participated in those activities in our housing company. In our back yard we had a big garden with berry bushes and apple trees, and a greenhouse for tomatoes, bell peppers, chilis and herbs.
We also have experience with animals, back in time we had few Belgian shepherd dogs and every now and then we have been looking after friends’ dogs when needed. We are also familiar with horses as we did horse riding for several years - including the fun part of shovelling the ...
We have been traveling around Europe, a few places in south-east Asia and some parts of the US when our daughter was there in exchange. During our trips we prefer experiencing everyday life over fancy must-be-places. We love to go hiking and practice yoga (mainly ashtanga and yin), but also enjoy the culture and history of the place we visit. We enjoy cooking and gastronomy a lot, we think it’s an essential part of getting familiar to new cultures. Back in the days Birgit studied this part at a professional level. So, let’s cook and enjoy together!
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR AS WORKAWAYERS
We are open to different kinds of possibilities to use our increased free time to provide something good for you and get new experiences for us. It could be house sitting with or without pets or helping you in the project of your dreams or everyday life.
We prefer a mid/longer stay in Europe, at this point at least. Let’s get in contact!
