Hi! I’m Isabel I’m currently a 4th year Political Science and Global Studies student with a minor in Spanish living in Philadelphia PA. I’m looking for a host from the end of July till mid-December. I will be attending the Universidad de Montevideo so my work schedule will entirely depend upon my class schedule which I will not know until I arrive in Montevideo on July 31st. I am very flexible though and willing to help as much as possible. My main goal for studying abroad is to learn Spanish which currently I am not very good at but have taken classes for many years. I am currently working as a cook in Philadelphia so I’m very comfortable in the kitchen and am eager to learn more about local cuisine. I also love children so if childcare is involved that’s amazing! I have experience farming and gardening but could always learn more about different techniques and methods. I love nature and plants. I can really help with anything as I am open to learning and gaining new experiences and knowledge. I love learning and I’m so grateful to be able to travel and learn from so many other kinds of people.

I have a lot of experience doing workaway and I used it to travel around South Asia when I was 19. I stayed on farms in rural areas as well as in cities. I worked for families and for small communities of people who needed help. I prefer to stay in one place for a long time as it creates more of a relationship not only with me and the host but I feel I learn so much more about where I am. I had hoped to find a homestay much sooner but the ones offered by the university have not returned any of my messages.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I love children and have taken care of kids for a majority of my life. I've watched children from ages 1-12 and babysitting has always been easy for me. I'm also a very organized person so cleaning and organizing things is something I have a knack for. I'm very good with animals of all kinds and I've always taken care of multiple house pets that my family owns including dogs, cats, rabbits, and chickens. I don't have as much experience with farm animals as some may like but my love and understanding of animals will only benefit my ability to learn. My first workaway was at a farm in Sikkim India where I spent two months learning about organic farming. It was a fairly small farm but I’d love to work on a bigger one.

I'm super motivated to be as helpful as possible even if there's something I'm not good at. I'm extremely charismatic and kind and through my other worldly travels, I am able to quickly adapt to my surroundings, change comes easily to me and I can rationally navigate situations I'm unfamiliar with. I'm looking to stay in one place for a few months at a time so usually I'll be a long-term worker!
