About Gemma:
Kia ora! I’m Gemma, a 25 year old New Zealander currently travelling with my partner Blake. I am curious, practical, and always up for learning something different.

Back home, I studied marketing, management and philosophy, and spent the past few years working full-time in Auckland as a researcher. I’ve now stepped away from the 9 to 5 to travel more intentionally. Not just as a tourist, but by getting involved, meeting people, and gaining experiences I wouldn’t have through a guidebook. I grew up by the beach and have spent lots of my adult life hiking, cooking, camping, and getting to know the quirks of small towns and big landscapes.

I love cooking - especially Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Asian food. I’m always keen to pick up new techniques or traditional recipes. I enjoy working on creative projects, getting stuck into a task, and I’m a quick learner. I can help out in the kitchen, with organisation, basic gardening, social media, writing, and general chores.

I’d describe myself as thoughtful, friendly, observant, and adaptable. I'm a creative person, whether it is through writing or putting together a great meal or research projects. I’m easy to live and work with, take direction well, and always aim to leave things better than I found them.

About Blake: 

Hey, I’m Blake, a 25 year software engineer from New Zealand with a love for the outdoors, creative projects, and getting stuck into something hands-on. I’m happiest when I’m climbing, camping, or out exploring somewhere new, and I tend to turn any weekend into an excuse for an adventure.


I’ve been lucky enough to do some travelling over the years to some very interesting places. I am drawn to places with rich history, or rugged nature. Back home I’ve spent a lot of time in the bush, hiking, climbing, swimming, and sleeping under the stars. I’ve also worked on a bunch of DIY and labour projects including building decks, fish ponds, retaining walls, digging gardens and being my Mum’s handy-man. I enjoy figuring things out and making them happen.

Outside of that, I’m into music and play guitar (still learning). I like meeting people, having a laugh, and trying new things. Perhaps a new skill, or a slightly sketchy climbing route. I’m easygoing, always up for a challenge, and enjoy helping out wherever I can, especially if it involves tools, teamwork, or creativity.

About us as a couple: 

We’re Blake and Gemma, a couple from New Zealand who’ve been together for over eight years and are travelling the world together. We’re friendly, reliable, and easy to get along with. We both really value being part of the places we visit, not just passing through.

Between us, we bring a mix of practical and creative skills. Blake is super hands-on and has experience in carpentry, gardening, climbing and outdoor projects. Gemma is a great cook, a natural organiser, and loves working on thoughtful or creative tasks. We're both happy to take direction, work hard, and get stuck in wherever needed.

We’ve explored a lot of New Zealand, from remote beaches to alpine tracks. We love spending time outdoors. We’re both really excited to contribute, learn, and grow as we travel.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Gemma: I have a background in marketing, management and philosophy, and worked as a researcher before starting our travels. I’m a confident communicator, quick learner, and love tasks that require creativity or attention to detail.

I’m passionate about cooking and love learning and sharing recipes. I’m experienced with meal preparation, kitchen organisation, and catering to different dietary needs (gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan - my family has lots of various dietary requirements!). I’m also comfortable with social media, writing, and general admin or organisation.

I’m happy to help with gardening, light manual work, cleaning, and general household tasks. I always bring a thoughtful and adaptable approach to whatever’s needed.

Blake: I’m a qualified software engineer and a very hands-on, practical person. I’ve worked on a range of DIY and manual labour projects. I’m confident with tools and physical work, and enjoy figuring things out and finding efficient, reliable solutions.

I’ve done volunteer archaeology work in Vanuatu and have spent time travelling through India. I’m an experienced hiker and climber, and I’ve led small group trips in the outdoors. I can help with basic construction, gardening, general maintenance, and am happy to lend a hand with anything that needs doing.

On the creative side, I have taught myself and play guitar and piano (still learning!), and enjoy problem-solving, whether that’s through coding, design, or building something from scratch.
