Dani and Felice spent two weeks with us earlier this summer and generously shared their skills and experience with us. They helped with a wide variety of tasks from the hard physical work of clearing neglected fences to erecting a rustic pergola and repairing an antique table. They were delightful to have amongst us and we recommend them to any

We have had a beautiful and deep meeting with Jean and Gerry. There are very welcoming and we have appreciated their nice and simple way to care about us. They both have that great quality to listen. It has been nice to work together with them being companions for a fortnight and sharing our opinions and dreams.
We have been at home in their home

We have met William, one of their sons and have worked and chat together in various occasions.
With Jean we have discovered beautiful and interesting spots in Mayo.
With Gerry we have been able to know more about the farmers' life in Ireland.
We would be very pleased to meet them again.
Thank you for all that and even more.

We stayed two weeks with Jean and Gerry in November 2021
We spent so many moments that we will never forget. We share our culture and passions. It was a real pleasure to contribuate to the "Paradise Garden" !
We played cards and we saw the wonderful background near the house.
We visited Galway and Sligo during our free days.
It was great to

Conor stayed with us for three weeks and during his time with us he got involved thoroughly in our activities. He helped me, (Jean) in the garden mostly with weeding, digging and making paths. Although he was not experienced with a spade he made great efforts and carried and emptied a great many wheelbarrow loads of weeds. He also helped with

He is also an excellent cook and willingly helped with daily household chores. Conor would be an asset to any hosts he joined as he is openminded and willing to learn and is great company. I stayed with Gerry and Jean for three weeks in June, and would gladly recommend them to the Workaway community. They are very genuine and friendly people who welcomed me warmly into their lives. I am happy to say that I was treated like family during my time there, as I was introduced to their friends and family (in person and digitally!) who

In terms of work, I was mainly working in the garden with Jean, doing a lot of weeding. We also worked to dig out a path. Other small jobs included going for turf and helping to chop wood. I went out with Gerry a few times to see his "cowies", which we also had to move from one field to another. Most of the work is outdoors and can be physically challenging but really rewarding. Gerry and Jean are happy to help you learn new things, are patient and love to share their knowledge with you.
It was a great opportunity to learn about rural life in the west of Ireland, and you will come to have a better understanding of the culture and politics which you might not normally experience if you were just staying in a holiday home. The food was also a highlight, as there is loads of local produce coming from the garden, and Gerry and Jean are both excellent cooks. I was also asked to cook, as the tradition is for volunteers to prepare a signature dish. So before arriving, have an idea of what you might want to make!
The scenery is spectacular in a rugged sort of way, as the house is on the side of a mountain. The weekend before leaving, I got the chance to go on a nice, long hillwalk which was a lovely way to see the area at a slower pace. I was also allowed to borrow a bike, and this enabled me to go a bit further and see more of the countryside.
Overall, I am happy to have had this experience, following a fairly intense two years of teacher training and all the stress of the pandemic. While remaining active, I managed to forget about Covid, and even the time of day/day of the week, but in the nicest way possible.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.
