We had the most amazing time with Mark! This was our first Workaway experience so we weren’t sure what to expect. Mark immediately welcomed us to his home and showed us around the neighborhood, you can tell how much he loves his home and sharing it with others. We did meaningful work that was very manageable and enjoyable. Mark was mindful to not have us working outside when it was too windy, and he left us plenty of time to explore the area. He gave awesome recommendations for food, hikes, and historical sites. Oh and his cooking!!! He took such great care of us, we are so grateful for his generosity. I hope we can come back soon to visit our new friend!!

🦋🫶🏻I spent 11 beautiful and deeply transformative days at Claudia’s sanctuary, and this experience truly exceeded all my expectations. It was filled with growth, connection, love, and unexpected magic. I arrived at the end of March, just as one of her retreats was about to begin. During my stay, I helped with vegan cooking, cleaning, and various tasks around the house. I also had the chance to participate in some of the retreat activities, where I learned so much through yoga, breathwork, singing, and nervous system regulation practices. What made this Workaway so special and different from my previous experiences was Claudia herself. She is an incredibly understanding, empathetic, accepting, and loving person — a truly free, wild, creative, and authentic soul. From the very beginning, she explained everything clearly and made me feel completely at home, safe, and free. Of course, the first few days can feel a bit challenging as you adjust to a new place and rhythm, but once you settle in, everything flows with ease and joy. The atmosphere she creates is warm and supportive. Work never felt like a burden — there were no fixed hours, just a flexible, natural flow of helping when needed. Tasks were simple and pleasant: cooking, doing dishes, laundry, hanging clothes, and cleaning the pool. It truly felt like helping a dear friend rather than doing chores. We also shared many beautiful moments together. We went to the beach with her lovely daughter Alice, enjoyed delicious açaí bowls, visited Málaga to experience the Semana Santa ceremony, and explored a charming nearby village. We sang, danced, laughed, and traveled together — moments I will always cherish. This experience encouraged me to look inward and connect deeply with myself. I had my own private room, plenty of space and time for solitude when I needed it, while Claudia’s warm presence and energy made her the most wonderful company. Please note that if you find it difficult to spend time alone or tend to feel lonely easily, this place might not be the best fit for you. I loved cooking for myself, and often for Claudia and Alice as well. The kitchen is always well-stocked with all kinds of groceries, so you can easily prepare your own meals. I was happy to share a traditional Bulgarian dish I made — Banitsa 🇧🇬 — which we all enjoyed together. Claudia, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. Thank you for your genuine, loving energy, for all the laughter we shared, for holding space for me when I needed to talk, and even for picking me up when I missed my bus back to Sayalonga 😅❤️. Thank you for being so beautifully and powerfully you. I will carry these memories in my heart forever. With so much love and gratitude,
Simona (Bulgaria)

I had the opportunity to spend 10 days with Delphine, David, Charles and Léonie, a lovely french family, and I couldn’t have asked for a better first Workaway Experience. I felt very welcome from the beginning and throughout all the week. The house is really nice, they gave me everything I needed and the dinners they have all together every evening were really ones of my favourites moments! During 4 days I joined Delphine at her school and made a presentation about myself and my country to the students. It was great, the kids are very curious and respectful and made my days there more meaningful for sure. They gave me plenty of free time to visit the area, their town is small but nice (especially le chateau) and Boredeux is very close. I also took a daytrip to Arcachon and Dune du Pilat. I could join Delphine at her gym session for a few days, cooked them spanish tortilla and shared cool moments together (like their pizza’s night, an afternoon in Bordeaux…). Delphine is definitely the most loving, caring, energetic and strong mother I know. She is a great person and I will cheerish all the moments we shared. David was always super respectful. And the kids are very sweet but I didn’t spend too much time with them. These days fulflled me in so many ways I didn’t expect, I am so thankful and grateful for their great hospitality and I can’t say anthing but recommend this family! Merci beaucoup and hope to see you again in the future:)

Assolutamente consigliato 😄🐶

We stayed two weeks in Irina’s place. Irina is a wonderful Host and great workaway. She was incredibly welcoming and we were part of the family from the moment we arrived. Our tasks were - feeding and taking care of the animals - cleaning duties - gardening and - construction work (we built a pathway through the jungle) which were pretty cool. The animals are super cute and friendly. It is an absolute joy to take care of them. There is a lot of flexibility in the work and the hours. On one day we worked more hours to finish the project and we got one more day off. Thank you very much for having us. It was a great adventure! We cooked, laught and heared music together and met new friends. ☺️ We had lots of fun and enjoyed our time here very much. Koh Phayam has lots to offer and one of the most beautiful sunsets on our journey. Highly recommended! We will definitely come back. ❤️

Iris is a conscientious and hard-working individual who approached every task with dedication and care. Whether helping with daily responsibilities or taking initiative on her own, she consistently demonstrated reliability and a strong work ethic. Her communication skills were excellent, making it easy to coordinate tasks and ensure everything ran smoothly. She was always polite, clear, and thoughtful in her interactions, which made a big difference in a shared environment. She was also very respectful towards our guests, creating a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere for everyone. On top of that, she showed a natural affinity with animals, handling them with kindness, patience, and confidence. Overall, I highly recommend her to any future hosts. She would be a valuable and positive presence in any Workaway placement.

Laurent was our second host in Portugal, where we stayed for three weeks in March and learned so much new and interesting things. His property is beautiful and invited us to sit outside in the sunny weather. He also has goats, sheep, and a pig, as well as the sweetest little dogs, Simba and Luna, who are always heard loudly ;) We were able to choose our working hours, which are five hours long, and we decided on 8 AM to 1 PM, which worked perfectly due to the warm weather. We had the weekends off. The tasks were always clear, and he explained many things to us, for example, about the forest. Most of the time, we spent in the forest, where we helped Laurent create paths by manually cutting smaller trees. We also pulled weeds in various beds. It was physically demanding work, but manageable. Laurent was always attentive to ensure we understood everything and felt comfortable. Breakfast was always prepared in the morning, and we ate independently. We will really miss lunch and dinner, which were always freshly and healthily prepared! We shared these two meals with Laurent. The accommodation was also comfortable. We stayed in a small apartment separate from the main house. The only thing to know is that the Wi-Fi does not reach there. We heard various funny and also educational stories and experiences from Laurent. Even though he is not Portuguese, he told us a lot about Portugal and its history. The shared meals were ideal for exchanging ideas. We thank you for the new, valuable experiences.

I stayed 2 weeks at the finca. It is a beautiful small paradise in the depths of the mountains of Andalucia. My day started with a nice morning Tai Chi and Yoga with an older spanish man Teo and Maria. Both were pretty joyful and positive. The food overall was versitile with lots of fruits vegtables and desserts as well. I was surprised how creative the vegan kitchen can be. The work was mainly some paintings or maintenance work outside. Sometimes I helped cooking as well. I liked to spent my free time just sitting outside, reading a book or journaling. I really appreciate the stillness and peace in nature. There are possibilities to go for a walk as well. Maybe mountainbiking could be a good option as well. Before dinner I could participate in an one hour medition with Maria and other volunteers. Sometimes Hannes played beautiful songs for us on the guitar afterwards. I told Maria that I was curious about spirituality. She explained me some topics and borrowed me some spiritual books. She even invited me to a spiritual event. I am very grateful for that. Maria is very joyful and caring. Always smiling and open. Generally the people there are very funny positive good people. Its a nice small environment. Hannes and Michael took me to some Yoga classes as well which I really appreciate. One day there was a „Finca day“ which is a day where only self grown food from this finca could be eaten. A cool idea to see how much food you would actually need to be self sufficient. All in all I am grateful for the hospitality and the good people there. All the best!

It was definitely my top volunteering experience in Thailand. I spent 3 weeks here, everyone was incredibly welcoming, including Mike and Milky (the owners) and Knight (the manager). The job was easy and fun, it was basically about socializing with really great people (the guests) during the day and hosting some pub quiz and stuff in the night. There were plenty of time to go exploring the city and the surrounding attractions too. The room was basic but okay, and actually I really didn't spent any time there besides sleeping, as it was always much more fun to hang around and have a few beers in the common areas with the guests and other reps. Highly recommend and I hope to see you again guys. B

Jannis and I spent four wonderful weeks with this lovely family and had a great time. During our stay, we helped out at their second house with painting, cleaning, and renovation projects. Toward the end of our stay, we also did some gardening. The tasks were varied and well balanced, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the experience. For accommodation, we first stayed in their main house. We moved to the second house for our final week once the first room was ready. It was great spending time with their two boys and their dog Roxy, who is absolutely lovely. We also enjoyed the social side of this Workaway. We spent many beautiful evenings together with the family and their friends from the neighbourhood which was a great way to feel connected to local life. It truly felt like being part of the family :) A special thanks to Yika, who went above and beyond to help us explore the region. She often drove us around, gave us countless great hiking tips and even lent us a tent and sleeping mats for a three-day hiking trip. Thank you very much for your hospitality and the warm atmosphere. We truly enjoyed our stay and highly recommend this host to anyone looking for a welcoming and genuine experience.

It was my first Workaway experience and also my first time in Europe, and I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better start. The homestead is absolutely beautiful, and I can really feel how much love and care they put into everything. I learned so many new things during my stay, and every day felt meaningful in its own way. I’m truly grateful for this experience, and I would love to come back again if I have the chance in the future. Thank you so much for everything 💗

We had a very nice time with Naoki. Even though he is very young, he behaved very maturely, ready to help and learn, taking initiative and doing tasks with enthusiasm and interest. We were generally a good match as he was very interested in many things we offer like yoga, meditation, veganism etc. Welcome anytime, thank you for the help, the music and your presence :D

Althought we had a short exchange, Tiberius helped us a lot. Thank you for everything! I really liked the fact he expressed his concerns and feedback immediately ,so that we can adress them in timely matter. Thanks to that great communication this was a great exchange!

I stayed here for several weeks during winter and overall it was a really my first meaningful experience for me. I already had some experience in the restaurant industry, but the main challenge at the beginning was the language, especially German. However, with time and practice, things improved a lot; I learned new dishes, different techniques, and also better ways to present myself and serve guests. In the end, I felt much more confident. During my stay, I mainly worked as a server and barman. Whenever needed, I also helped as a dishwasher and with housekeeping, which made the experience more varied and allowed me to learn different aspects of the work. I worked mostly with Andrea, and both Andrea and Frank were always very kind, patient, and understanding with me. If there was ever an issue or misunderstanding, it was always possible to talk about it and find a solution. One of the things I loved the most was the presence of their dog, Lil. Spending time with her in the mornings, and during the day in general, really made the experience even more special. The place itself is absolutely beautiful. Being completely surrounded by nature gave me a sense of peace that I hadn’t really experienced before in my daily life. It was honestly a bit sad to leave, because it became a space where I could slow down and enjoy quiet moments too. I would definitely recommend taking some time to explore the area, especially at night; going for a walk near the river and looking at the stars is something really special. The only thing that might be a bit challenging for some people is that during winter the bus does not run, so the place can feel quite remote. However, if you don’t mind walking, there are beautiful forest paths and trails you can take; it takes some time, but it’s absolutely worth it for what the place offers. At the end, it was a unique and enriching experience that I’m really grateful for🙌🏼.

Runa and Johann are a super simpático, fun and interesting couple. During their stay they coincided with my girlfriend and another two volunteers, and contributed to both a very enjoyable and a very productive couple of weeks. The six of us had a laugh working, cooking, eating, climbing and partying together. They were personaly responsible for home baked cake, new crazy cabo rules, dressing up, acro yoga, trips to the beach and trips to the hospital. Runa was unstoppable outside, great at everything. Johann was slower but extremely thorough, good at disassembling tools and putting them back together again, running pipes and weeding the shit out of the garden. Really wishing he was still here to help set up the irrigation system. I couldn't have hoped for anyone better to help get the place back into shape. Thank you both, you will always be welcome back in Santa Lucía, for my birthday for example :)

We had the pleasure of hosting Edi and Baris as our volunteers for two wonderful weeks. They contributed immensely to our moments together, sharing their personal insights and collaborating exceptionally well with the team. Their work was thoughtfully planned, and they actively supported our farm and agricultural activities, applying their knowledge and experience effectively. Moreover, they helped us prepare a special presentation and assisted in finding online courses for educational purposes. Their enthusiasm, dedication, and positive attitude made a meaningful impact on our community. We highly recommend Edie and Baris to any organization seeking motivated, creative, and helpful volunteers!❤️🥰🌻🍂

Melli and Alex were great enthusiastic volunteers, Dibbi a sweet stay-at-home cat. I often feel bad giving harder or less attractive jobs to other people. Their response to that was "absolutely not! You have to make the most of us..." So that is what I did, guilt free. Very hard working, they got loads done, and very cheerfully too. A real pleasure to host.

Noel and Alina are kind and thrustworthy people. They helped me build a wall and did a wonderful job. They are easy going, flexible and we had nice conversations. Also my 6 dogs liked them, they fed them for 1,5 days whilst o was bringing a foster dog to her new home.

Christine and Kevin joined 2 other workaway volunteers at my place for several days. They were enthusiastic, easy going, easy to communicate with, and pitched in well on everything requested. they were skilled at brushcutting, mowing, wood splitting, and gardening. they got along easily with other volunteers who arrived on the same day. And they made a delicious Singaporean dish for our dinner one evening. I highly recommend hosting Christine and Kevin. they are good value.
