Description
Come and join us in the heart of Portugal, right by the peaceful Dão River. We're looking for people to join us in building up this little paradise and meeting spot for good people. It’s calm and rural here, off-grid, close to nature, and perfect if you want to escape the noise and enjoy simple living.
Our place is all about learning by doing and getting stuck in the projects whilst enjoying the little things. We love sharing meals, laughs and good conversations.
We are looking for friendly, open-minded people who enjoy being part of daily family life.

Spring Projects & Daily Life
Life here follows the rhythm of the seasons, so the type of work varies throughout the year. We understand that everyone has different interests and strengths — and that’s absolutely fine. We always aim to tailor tasks so they’re enjoyable and meaningful for you.
Before your arrival, we will arrange a video call. This is a great opportunity for you to share your skills, interests, and anything you’d like to learn while you’re here. It helps us plan projects that suit you and ensures a more rewarding experience for everyone.
In spring, there’s a wide variety of projects to get involved in, including:
•Hands-on DIY projects such as building chicken coops, painting, and helping create our new outdoor kitchen
•Caring for our animals, especially the chickens and our turkey, Paul
•Working in the vegetable garden, learning about no-dig practices, planting, harvesting, and general maintenance
•Food preservation, fermentation, and juice making
•River and forest management, including pruning and fire prevention
•Firewood preparation — chopping, stacking, and building shelters
•General gardening tasks like mowing, strimming, planting, and tree care
•Learning about permaculture and ways to live in harmony with the land
•Helping with cooking and keeping shared spaces clean and welcoming
•Occasionally helping look after our 2-year-old
The list could go on — there’s always something to do here! We truly believe there’s a role for every interest, whether you enjoy physical work, learning new skills, or simply being part of a creative, nature-based lifestyle.
We’re excited to see what skills and ideas you bring, and we look forward to learning together.

Hébergement
We offer simple and cozy places to stay, depending on season and length of stay.
Most people that volunteer with us have a cozy private hut with double bed and basic facilities for the duration of their stay. We will discuss your accommodation options of the call before you arrive.
Our heart is the big community kitchen and a seating and Chill area. There is also a shared bathroom and shower block.
Stay with your van on one of our terraces surrounded by forest.
Autres infos...
A warm vegetarian lunch is included on work days. We also provide basic breakfast supplies for volunteers. We have big family meals, if not, volunteers get a small budget for dinner, plus fresh vegetables from the garden (depending on the season).
We are in a quiet, off-grid place. The closest town, Viseu, is about 25 minutes by car, or the closest bus stop is 20 minutes walk away. Porto Airport is about 1 hour 40 minutes away by car or 2 hours by bus. The last 2 km to the Quinta is a dirt track.
If you don’t have a car, it will be harder to get here, but it can still work with some planning. There is a small mini market in the village and regular buses going to Viseu, Porto and further.

It was my first real introduction to off-grid living. I arrived curious and left deeply grateful—for the land, the rhythms, and most of all, the people.
