    Description

    Hi, I’m Sebastian.

I recently took over a beautiful 3-hectare quinta in the Magic Mountains of central Portugal. There is a lot of potential here, but also quite some work to do. My plan is to slowly bring the place back to life and turn it into a place where nature, people and simple living can come together.

The quinta is surrounded by mountains, with clean mountain water and the crystal-clear Teixeira River just a short walk away. The land has been neglected for quite some time, so the soil needs some attention and time to recover. I’m working on improving the soil, bringing more diversity back to the land and creating a healthier ecosystem using regenerative practices.

For now, I want to keep things small. I’m not looking to host large groups, but rather a few people at a time who enjoy being outdoors, take responsibility for their surroundings and are happy to contribute where needed. People who can take initiative, share a meal, get their hands dirty and respect each other’s space.

Over time, I’d like to create some nice places to gather, meditate, make things or simply sit and enjoy the surroundings. There is no rush to make everything happen at once. I want to see how the place develops and build things step by step.

Life here is pretty simple. Slow mornings, working on the land, cooking and sharing meals, swimming in the river and spending evenings outside under the stars. There is a private stretch of river on the property, which is definitely one of the nicest things about this place.

I’m still figuring things out and learning a lot along the way. Restoring the land takes time, and so does building a place like this. I’m happy to let things develop at their own pace instead of trying to do everything at once.

If you enjoy regenerative living, nature, DIY projects and being part of something that is growing from the ground up, you might feel at home here. I’m always happy to connect with people who share a similar outlook and are interested in contributing in a genuine way.

Just to be clear, I intend to run this project strictly as a non-profit.

We love welcoming people from different cultures and backgrounds, sharing experiences, traditions, and ways of life. Workawayers will have the opportunity to connect, take part in daily activities, discover the local culture, and explore the surrounding area.

We are happy to share our knowledge, skills, local traditions, and everyday lifestyle while learning from our guests' cultures, languages, cooking, and personal experiences. We hope to create a friendly and open environment where everyone feels welcome, can exchange ideas, learn from each other, and build meaningful connections.

I’m particularly interested in permaculture and syntropic agroforestry, and I’m learning as I go. A syntropic tree line is already in the making, and I’m curious to see how it develops over the coming years. The idea is to work with nature rather than against it, creating a landscape that becomes more diverse and productive over time, providing food and space for wildlife along the way.

There is also quite some DIY tasks going on in the main building at the moment. It’s all part of making the place more comfortable and improving things step by step. Soon I’ll be starting with hemp insulation, using natural materials wherever possible.

I would also like to explore the possibility of farm sitting with responsible people who enjoy being in nature and are happy to take care of the land while I’m away. For me, it’s important that people treat the place with respect and understand that this is an ongoing project, like gardening, DIY projects

Depending on availability, you can stay in the main building or in a caravan. There are also tents, sleeping bags, mattresses and blankets available.

For those interested in staying longer, there may be a possibility to stay in the caravan long-term. This depends on availability and whether it feels like a good fit for both sides.
