Description
... if this field of activity sounds like the perfekt match for you, we are looking forward to welcome you for three weeks or longer to help us with diverse cultural events and restoring the old castle. Now in sping we will also focus on our small garden for the vegetable season for growing our own food.
We - the young family of Matthias, Dagny and our sons Johann and Ferdinand - are living and working in a castle. We are experienced in preservation and developement of old buildings and already restored the medieval settlement of the Teutonic Order in Buro (near Wittenberg). Matthias is the Chairman of a Society for Historic Houses and Gardens and author of several historical books. Dagny is cultural manager for diverse events.
We have had around 140 volunteers from exactly 30 nations in the past 4 years. For us an incredible experience and enrichment.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre
Involved in this Workaway exchange, you can learn a lot about culture and history of Germany.
Not only is the castle old, our family can also look back on hundreds of years of history.
Since our work requires trips to different places and cities you are welcome to join us. We can help you with trip advices and travel plans to the nearby region. Here is the historical heart of Germany. This is where the first German king got his crown, worked the church reformer Martin Luther 500 years ago and where the BAUHAUS, the world's most important school for design and architecture of the 20th century, was founded a hundred years ago. Here in the small state of Saxony-Anhalt we have 5 UNESCO World Heritage Sites, this density is unique in the world.Aide
Events:
For our three non-profit events during the year we ask you to help us in November with our annual "Ginger Bread Festival" in march our "Marmelade-Festival" and in August our "BBQ-Competition"
We also have different smaler events where you can participate if you are interested in: historical cooking classes, tastings with Live-Music, different speeches and guided tours. There you can learn about germany history and culture.
Help in the house/garden:
We also have the option that you can help us mainly with tasks like going shopping, preparing the meals, different things in the house and also watering/gardening the park and the vegetable garden.
Restoration:
We will work on the so-called "duke's room". Here we want to conjure up an enchanting baroque room from a boring socialist room. But there are also other small construction projects.Langues

Burgliebenau is a village in the middle of Germany in Saxony-Anhalt (the Country, where Martin Luther lived and worked 500 years ago). A large nearby City is Leipzig. The international airport Leipzig and good long-distance train connections make it easy for you to reach Burgliebenau.
We are living closely together with our guests from all over the world. We cook together and share meals together in the family kitchen. A vegan diet would not work in our family but vegetarian would be possible.
Every guest has his own furnished bedroom.
If you like to experience a very close family live and are willing to adapt to our way of living during your stay, you are welcome to our home.Informations complémentaires
