Description
From Minnesota, my husband and I recently bought a small 4-room hotel on the beach in Las Peñitas, Nicaragua - a small fishing village that attracts surfers and adventurers from all over the world, but has yet to become overly commercialized. We serve a diverse mix of national and international travelers - who speak mostly Spanish or English - with overnight stays in private rooms, an onsite restaurant/bar, and day pass use of our facilities.
We live on the property and employ a handful of local staff to manage the hotel, provide top-notch customer service, cook, and clean. We work together as a team to serve our guests and ensure the best possible vacation experience to travelers.
The ideal candidate would be honest, outgoing, self-motivated, and team-oriented. This person must speak English and/or Spanish and be willing to work 15 hours a week with flexible, mostly weekend hours. In exchange for staff support and/or special projects, we will provide a small, private room and breakfast.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

This small fishing village and surfing community on the northern pacific coast of Nicaragua is tropical paradise, rich with diversity that is still “off the grid” but attracts adventurous travelers and surfers from around the world. Spanish is the primary language spoken here, and most international travelers who visit our hotel speak English.
Local people, expats, and travelers come together here to enjoy the beach, the waves, the estuaries, fishing, turtle release, yoga, massage, pickleball, nearby volcano boarding and hiking, fresh seafood, local beer, frozen cocktails, beautiful sunsets, and karaoke on Wednesday nights. As you walk down the beach (or the one paved road that stretches only a few miles in total), you will pass unassuming personal vacation homes, hostels, small hotels, locally-owned restaurants, and surf schools on the beach. There are no hotel or restaurant chains, and pretty much no structures higher than two stories. You will see cars, trucks, buses, motorcycles, bicycles, horse-drawn wagons, and cattle all mixed together on the road - not usually in a hurry. One of the things we love most about living here is that it feels like you are going back in time. It truly is tranquil.
Leon is the closest city. An easy 20-minute “chicken bus” ride from the beach, it offers museums, cultural sites, historic Spanish colonial architecture, lots of restaurants and bars, markets, shopping, and entertainment. There are many opportunities to get involved in projects at local schools, churches, and medical facilities.Aide
We are looking for someone to provide staff support like greeting guests, showing people our rooms, watching over the pool/beach area, cleaning, doing dishes and laundry, etc. Additional skills in construction, architecture, gardening outdoor mural painting, sound systems, or photography/video could also be put to good use.

We provide a small, private room with futon, sheets, pillow, towels, mini fridge, ceiling fan, closet, electrical, and WiFi. Daily breakfast and safe drinking water are provided.

We are a small, family owned operation, with a handful of local staff and owners who live on the property. That said, the hotel is one of nicest and the most expensive places to stay on the beach, with only four rooms and a maximum capacity of 12 people per night. We intentionally keep our number of day pass visitors low to ensure an upscale, peaceful, relaxing vacation experience. We do not allow pets, loud music, outside food or drinks, or parties.
There is so much to see and do in Las Penitas, Leon, and surrounding areas. Adventurous Workawayers will not be bored during their time off!. We have bicycles and body boards available, the bus to Leon leaves every hour and is accessible right outside our door, and taxis are plentiful.
The cost of living in Nicaragua is lower than in most other countries, so living and traveling here is very affordableInformations complémentaires

We have good wifi at the hotel, but the power does go out sometimes. It is always good to have a cellular data backup available.
