  Description

  Hello everyone
  
  We are a mixed nationality family, Japanese (Kana, female) and Spanish (Javier, male)and we live in a small little fishermen’s village in the north of Japan, in Hokkaido. Before living here, we lived in large cities like Tokyo, Shanghai, New York, Boston, Madrid, etc. We are a well travelled couple in our early 40s.
  
  We have a newly built beautiful house facing the sea and have 2 small boys, Ruy who was born in 2022 and Salvador Leo who was born in 2025.
  
  At home, we speak English, Spanish and Japanese and given the work styles of both parents, we are seeking an au pair person to spend time with us, help us care for our children some times during the weekdays and weekends while also enjoying living in this beautiful country and unique village of Hagino, in Shiraoi.
  
  Our village is around 1 hour drive to Sapporo (main city) or around 75 minutes by train. There are language schools in a city called Tomakomai and Muroran, which are around 25-30 mins drive from our home.
  
  There are bus stops and train stops in walking distance to our home which can take you there through a couple of interchanges.
  
  We are open to nationalities, however we aim to ensure our children are exposed either to Chinese OR Spanish languages directly. We believe English is something they will learn naturally from us as we speak it at home and Japanese is something they will find in their respective nurseries, friends, etc.
  
  As our Au Pair, you´d be part of our family. If you want, we will bring you to some of our short trips around Hokkaido or Japan, we will bring you to the market with us, etc.
  
  Also, sometimes, we could give you a lift to the train station (couple of times per week)to save you some commuting time to Tomakomai or Muroran, where you would likely take Japanese classes.

  Aide

  Overall, expected to get around 20 hours of support per week, as follows:
  
  Weekdays (Monday to Friday, school days)
  • From around 8 AM to 8.30 AM am, help us with the children, feed, clothe them, help us clean the living room and 2nd floor after they go to their school (clean living room tables, hoover floor and stairs, empty diaper bag into main garbage bag). They usually wake up around 6 AM and we will take care of them initially
  • 8 AM to 5PM the kids are in nursery, so you are free to do what you want (learn language, etc)
  • From 5 PM to 8.30 PM, help us with the children, their bath, feeding them, putting them to bed and accompany Ruy (older one) as he calms before sleeping. From 8.30 PM, we will take over taking care of Ruy if he is still awake
  • We will once a week housekeeping services who will help us do a deep clean of the house. You are not expected to do this
  
  Weekends (Saturday , Sunday or non school days)
  • You will get 2 full days free for you
  
  What we will provide:
  • Private room with shared toilet/bath/shower, wifi internet available throughout the home
  • Food 3x times per day (you can cook the food yourself, we will provide the ingredients)
  • Washing machine available for you to use anytime and drying area
  • Flights to Japan and return, economy class
  • If you decide to rent your own car, we can provide you with a free parking space in front of our home. However, we will not pay your car rental fee.
  • Monthly allowance of 500 USD per month, paid in Japanese yen (local currency)
  What we will not provide:
  • Language classes fees
  • Health insurance while you are here
  • Transport fees (bus, train, car, etc.)
  • Working holiday visa or any other visas, you need to obtain it before coming
  Important information/reminder
  • One of the main reasons we want to receive an au pair in our home is to give more language and people exposure to our children. To that effect, please, kindly use your main mother tongue with our children as much as possible.
  • We live in a small fishing village called Hagino-Shiraoi, in the beautiful north of Japan, Hokkaido. This is NOT a big city like Tokyo or Osaka, so please, be aware of that before you join us. Understand that local transport, restaurants, shops are more or less limited. We encourage you to also go to Google Maps and check things around, transport options, etc.
