    Description

Welcome to our Eco-Art Retreat Centre, a beautiful piece of land (4000 m²) located on the lush, green Nesodden peninsula in the inner Oslo Fjord. Our sacred land sits near Bunnefjorden, the waterway connecting the peninsula to the mainland. A steep foot trail leads directly down to the fjord, where you can enjoy the beautiful beaches and rocky shores, surrounded by the peaceful presence of the more-than-human world.

Greetings! I'm Stine, and I live here with my two wonderful boys, Abbe (9) and Bror (7). As an artist, deep ecologist, yoga teacher, sociologist, and serial entrepreneur, my passions weave a rich tapestry of creativity and purpose. Among my endeavors, I founded this eco-art retreat centre—a project that lies close to my heart. Now in its second year, we're cultivating a small-scale eco-art community. Our mission is to inspire deep ecological awareness by creating a living, breathing example where art, culture, and sustainable practices harmoniously intertwine.

In addition to my family, several wonderful people live here and contribute to this evolving space:

Martine (designer and yoga teacher) will move into her tiny house in November.
Amana (work with women health and cacao circles) resides in my grandpa’s old workshop.
Kjartan (artist, musician and producer) lives in one of the original cabins, now fully restored.
We also live with our cat Kepler and many feathered friends walking freely on the land. We all share the love and respect for all living beings. At this early stage of development, we are particularly inviting one or two individuals with carpentry skills to help with foundational work, although gardening and creative skills are also welcome!

    Main Project for Fall/Winter 2024:
Our main focus for the upcoming season is restoring the original cabin on the property. This restoration will transform the cabin into a multi-purpose space—a workshop, guesthouse, artist studio, and cozy living area with a wood stove and mini kitchen. In the meantime, you'll stay in a large teepee with a double bed and wood stove, perfect for the autumn season. The goal is to complete the cabin restoration so it can be lived in by the time winter sets in. We aim to use recycled materials wherever possible, so someone with creativity and sustainability in mind would be ideal!

Additional Projects for Spring/Summer 2025 and Beyond:
As the seasons change, so will our projects. In 2025, we plan to further develop the property into a retreat and artistic sanctuary. Here are some of the exciting tasks coming up:

    Building meditation tree houses
    Developing outdoor kitchens and lounges
    Constructing a pizza oven
    Developing all-weather outdoor spaces
Building pathways, altars, and portals throughout the land
Crafting signs and other creative outdoor structures
Building a greenhouse using recycled windows
Renovating existing structures like chicken coops and fences
Our vision is to create a vibrant living art project, where creativity, sustainability, and regenerative culture merge into a unique sanctuary for soul and senses. We currently host circles, workshops, and courses, and our vision is to expand these offerings, allowing more people to reconnect with their true, wild nature — the essence of Villheima. Our goal is to grow this place into a vibrant center for retreats and a home for our community.

    Current Tasks in Progress:
Building a wooden platform for an amphitheater
Constructing an outdoor bathroom and kitchen
    Scraping and painting windows
    Preparing firewood for winter
    Land art installations and mosaics

If you’re passionate about craftsmanship, artistic projects, or permaculture, we would love for you to be a part of our growing community. This is a place where people come together to create, restore, and inspire, and we hope to make it a home for ecological and artistic expression.

We can’t wait to meet you and share this journey together!

    Warm regards,
Stine Rosén and the friends of Villheima
