Dodo & Ati have stayed with us twice and we have enjoyed their enthusiasm and care in each task.
They have painted the house, cooked delicious meals, grocery shopping, assisted with childcare, organising, cleaning, gardening, pet care and anything else I asked them to do they handled really well.
I recommend requesting Ati to make his burgers

Our stay at Mackerel Beach was nothing short of amazing, making our very first Workaway experience truly memorable! The location is stunning, surrounded by beautiful landscapes with excellent opportunities for bush walks. … read more hosts, were fantastic. They were kind, approachable, and very helpful throughout our stay. They clearly explained our tasks and made sure we were comfortable. Painting their house was our primary responsibility, and while it was physically demanding at times, the flexibility to set our own schedule made the work enjoyable. We also had some wonderful conversations with them, making us feel right at home. On top of that, Sarah assisted us in finding additional work opportunities during our free time, which we greatly appreciated.
We would wholeheartedly recommend this opportunity to anyone looking for a fulfilling and enriching experience. Thank you, Sarah and Nathan, for hosting us and making our first Workaway adventure so special!
We stayed at Sarah's and Nathan's place in Mackerel Beach for a week and had a wonderful time. The help expected from our side included mainly taking care of children and have swims and jumps from the jetty with them and keeping the house and the garden tidy and clean. We also enjoyed cooking and sharing some of our home country's recipes with the family. The timetable was really flexible and we appreciated the possibility to adapt it to our needs.
We had a private house to share with other workawayers, so you will have your own space and the opportunity to bond with the other guys. This made the experience ever more special.
Sarah and Nathan were amazing hosts, we had very pleasant chats with them especially during dinner and played boardgames. Nathan also brought us on a boat trip around the bay to spot seals on our last day, it was super fun. All the family is really welcoming and helpful. We strongly recommend the experience!

I was able to spend a week (and New Year's Eve) with 4 other Workawayers at Sarah's and her family's house. I had a great time here - Mackerel Beach is a special and beautiful place. There is a beautiful (but a bit overgrown) walk from the beach that leads to two smaler beaches, Aboriginal caves and a viewpoint. You can also take the ferry to Palm
… read more Beach and visit the lighthouse or surf there at the beach. You can also see lots of animals like bandicoots, wallabies and kookaburras. Sarah and her family were super nice and always tried to make sure we had a great time. One day Nathan even took us on a boat trip to show us the area. The main tasks were: cleaning, weeding and taking care of the kids. On New Year's Eve there were various activities for the children (and adults too) throughout the day and at the end there was a small party outside with a DJ. I had a great time here and would come back anytime!Feedback

Definitely one of the best workaways out there, Sarah and Nathan went above and beyond to help not only during our stay but following it - helping us to secure further workaways and work.
At theirs we did a range of work, from mowing to cleaning cobwebs - everything was explained clearly and the work we had to do was enjoyable and fair.

… read more & Nathan’s house is in a really lovely spot, very close to the beach and trails by national parks. Definitely walk to Resolute Beach - it’s incredibly beautiful.
Everyone in the community is really friendly and willing to help. My top tip is to say hello to everyone you walk past - you never know what it could lead to!

I had an amazing stay in such a beautiful and peaceful location. The house is located on Mackerel Beach which is only accessible via ferry from Palm Beach, but the ferries run to/from every hour and are very reliable.

Jobs wise I carried out general tasks (tidying up outside, painting, some garden work, cleaning the house etc) but my main job was to sand and repaint the decking. All the tools I needed were made available to me and there was constant communication.
The area is incredible, it's remote but so peaceful and stunning. There's a beach 3 mins walk from the house where you can take in a sun rise/sun set or go for a swim. There's also plenty of amazing Bush treks to do aswell so I had plenty to do in my free time.
I would definitely recommend doing a substantial grocery shop before arriving, as there are no shops/supermarkets at the location and you would have to the get a ferry back over to get shopping.
I've absolutely loved my time here and would 100% recommend it to anyone, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

We had a lovely time at Mackerel Beach at Sarah and Nathan’s property! We had the whole place to ourselves during our stay. The house is located on Mackerel Beach which is a beautiful and peaceful bay only accessible by a ferry from Palm Beach. It was easy to get to on the bus from Sydney CBD and then a short ferry ride across.

… read more Sandy the dog, and their family met us at Mackerel Beach and showed us the house. The gave us a short tour of the bay and showed us some good bush walking tracks. They also showed us around the house and garden. The house is lovely with lots of natural light. There is 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and a large open plan kitchen and living area as well as the deck out front.
While they were there they showed us the jobs that needed doing. These included weeding the garden, spraying feed and weed, removing cobwebs, painting and pressure washing. Afterwards, they went back to Palm Beach.
Sarah and Nathan were always just a phone call away if we ever needed anything and were happy to answer any questions we had.
For our Workaway we provided our own food so did 4 hours work a day in exchange for the accommodation.
Mackerel Beach is a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle of city life and enjoy the nature and wildlife.
We would throughly recommend this Workaway and would like to thank Sarah and Nathan for being great hosts! 😊
