Description
Come stay in our amazing cabin about 20 minutes south of the beautiful town of Jasper in the heart of the Canadian Rockies! Jasper attracts tourists from around the world because of its stunning scenery and wildlife. Our cabin is easily accessible by road, but is very much a wilderness experience - it’s truly a magical place, with tonnes of windows, mountain views, lots of wildlife, and the Athabasca River and beach just across the road! We have a big yard with a fire pit - the perfect place for your evening campfire!
My husband is a wildland firefighter, so he can be deployed on short notice. For the weeks when I am travelling, we are looking for someone to come stay in our guest room. If Kris is deployed or working long hours, you will be there to look after our two big goofy dogs and water the outdoor plants.
You must love big dogs, and because of our location, you must have your own car. You will need a National Park pass for your car, but we will pay your daily park entrance fee. If you stay for 7 days or more, we’ll buy you a Discovery Pass, which is an annual pass that allows you entrance to 80 different National Parks and historic sites across Canada.
After last year’s forest fire, accommodation is hard to find in Jasper right now (and expensive) so this is a great way to come visit Jasper!Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Kris is a painter (mostly acrylics, but also some watercolour and oil) and a guitar player. There are guitars you can use here, as well as canvases and paint if you want to try painting. Kris can teach you anything about forest fires if you are interested. Since this is more of a house-sitting gig, we won't be around for much cultural exchange, but there are tonnes of community events and tourist activities available in Jasper.

Our dogs Nelson and Lily are pretty easy-care – they need to be fed and let out morning and evening, and they need at least one walk per day (at a time that is convenient for you). Between the dogs and watering the plants, it’s probably only 1.5 hours per day, and the rest of the time is yours to explore the mountains. If you are going hiking and want a dog to scare bears, Lily makes a great hiking partner, and she’d love to join you, but the dogs are also fine being left home alone.
We will likely need help several times this fire season, but the first date we know for sure is Aug 6-16Langues parlées

Our 3-bedroom cabin is a historic building - it used to be the park warden cabin. It has been well-maintained. It is not new or fancy, but it has everything we need - heat, electricity, full kitchen, cell service, wifi, hot water. It has a huge lawn with a fire pit and picnic tables in the back yard.
You will have your own room with a queen-sized futon. Even though the rest of the house (kitchen, bathroom, livingroom) is a shared living situation, you will most often have the whole place to yourself! When he’s not away on a fire, Kris works very long hours in the summer. If Kris does make it home in the evening, he is an easy-going guy, who mostly paints or plays guitar.
Kris’ summer schedule is erratic, so bring your own food and cook your own meals. This is an ideal situation for an individual or couple!Autres infos...

Our Starlink Internet isn't great in the summer when the trees are in full leaf, but our cell service is good, so if you can work off of a hotspot, this could work for you. Otherwise, you might want to go into town and work out of the library.
Espace pour garer des vans
We don't have any dump sites or hookups, but we have a huge pull-through driveway, and lots of space to park any size rig.
