    Bula, Namaste and Hello,

To start I would like to share a bit about myself with you. I moved from Canada in May 2015 in search of an experience that would be meaningful and purposeful. Previously I worked on oil pipelines and transmission power lines. I always enjoyed working physical jobs outdoors, but had yet to find my niche. This is what led me to Fiji. Immediately I was warmed by the generous Fijian hospitality. The hospitality, adventures and Fjiian way of life has inspired me to share these experiences with others. Hence, I am opening my doors to all of you in hopes of sharing these amazing experiences. For instance, I am a certified open water diver and Fisherman that enjoys regular snorkeling trips. My intentions are to honor the laid back Fijian culture, but also balance my passion for life long learning, culture, wine, history, philosophy, and literature. My hope is that I will be able to share some of the experiences that have made me feel a part of this beautiful country. Such as, the locally grown and harvested flavourful food and continue to enrich my life with my passions.

The quaint part of Northern Fiji is where I am located. I am enveloped by an array of magnificent gifts from nature. I live on a commercial Sugar Cane farm that is approximately seventy meters above sea level and a half hour away from Raki Raki town, Ra province. It is Twenty minutes away from the ferry, a half hour from Korovou, and 2 hours from Suva and Nadi. Words cannot describe the brilliance of this nature, but I will attempt to find them. Being in a fertile area of Fiji you see many beautiful views. We have three rivers in the area, however my favourite one runs through the farm and is a mountain spring river with a diving pool. This also comes in handy, should our tap water run dry.

I would like to continue to enjoy the simplistic way of life, but build a house with amenities, which honours the environment and blends into the many majestic views. This process will take time and effort, but I look forward to the opportunity, as it is these experiences that shape the way we live our lives. I do appreciate a hygienic environment and would like to ensure that I continue to encompass this while I have visitors.

If you're handy with tools, enjoy planting, working in the nursery, making the occasionally meal, building a simple shelters, or just have a willingness to be challenged and get things done. We will learn lots together. This part of Fiji is like being back in to time, many traditional forms of farming still exist in the area and we use both modern and traditional styles on this farm. I have four goats; two horses and a dozen layer hens with some meat birds. We harvest a 100 ton of Sugar Cane yearly. The farm is also being used to yield vegetables and in turn we sell for cash. We refer to this as cash crop. We at times help with honey harvest for a local women's NGO, normally twice a year. I hope that I have inspired you to join me in living in this moment and I look forward to our paths crossing.

Fijian culture and history is interesting. In the mid 1800 it was know as the cannibal isle to most Europeans. Native Fijians had cannibalism down to a science using different specialized forks for different body parts. Gladly, now a days they have a more simply science of kava drinking. Love for the muddy drink is shared by both native and indo Fijian communities and is heavily used by both for many traditional cermeonys and gatherings. Fiji is also on the front lines of climate change you ll have a chance to see and talk to many Fijians about how they re lives have changed and ways these resilient people live in a dynamic environment. Using both modern and traditional ways to a life lived at a simple place with much attention and care giving to loved ones. You will quickly warm to the hospitality, spirit, energy and Fijian style in pace, with time for a second bilo ( Fijian cup).

The farm has a river running through it where you can fish, snorkel, swim and hang with the locals. You can also head down to the shop and just hang out or catch a ride from there and head down to a white sandy beach 20 minutes away. Things at the moment are a little rough for any city slicker but if you enjoy camping and the outdoors youll love it.
