I had a really good time. It's a charming, welcoming and relaxed place with lots of nice people living there or passing through. I totally enjoyed spending time outside in the garden, the field and the forest and learning quite a lot about planting, growing, harvesting (and, yes, about dunging trees with the outputs of the compost toilet). Also,

Tasks for volunteers at the mill are really diverse, depending on one's knowledges, capacities and interests. There was a (newly elaborated!) to-do-list to give volunteers an overview and to help them address the people who are working on the ongoing projects; also, me and the other volunteers were given an introductory "tour" of the vegetable gardens and of the forest, which was really helpful.
As a volunteer, you will always be able to meet people (residents or other volunteers) at the community spaces, but you will also have the freedom of doing things in your own rhythm. There is no such thing as a general schedule or a daily getting-together of the entire community, but you will probably always find people to connect with or organize your day with. The area is quite large and has a small river running through it; so it's also fun to just stroll around and discover new places in your free time. They also have guest bikes that you can use to make tours.
One note finally for those who (like me) are not very familiar with dogs: There are a few dogs living at the community, but they're all reeeaaaally relaxed and easy-going so don't worry about them ;)Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

We came as two people.
We were the first workawayers in this project, but for several years they did have woofers before. Thus volunteers mostly worked in the garden before us. We were more interested in buildung and general maintenance, so we and the mill had to adapt to this new situation. Projects for building are plenty and diverse. For
… read more example, we helped with scaffolding, clay Isolation and built a wooden raised bed.
Because of many people being on holiday it was hard at times to find someone to help us with organising for our ongoing projects. Finding the right tools and materials was of some effort. However everyone there is utterly supportive and communication has always been really constructive.
The people at the mill are outstandingly friendly and open, as it was really easy to integrate into the place and we felt right at home! The mill is a beautiful array of large old buildings that are yet only partially converted into (sometimes provisional) living areas and community Spaces. Many people live in beautiful tiny homes around the mill. The place is surrounded by gardens and a large forrest of which the mill owns a part.
If you are happy to and able to work independently on subjects as gardening, building or general maintenance and are interested in the live in a rural community project then this is a great place for you!
We will happily come back!!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.
