I'm from Japan and currently living in Kandy, Sri Lanka. There are 2 projects we look for supporters.
1. Hostel
2. Japanese language Education in Sri Lanka.
Trying to encourage to communicate foreign visitors and young Sri Lankan people.
【Hostel】
Me and some local staff operate the hostel. Generally all of us do all the works.
general tasks
・Reception (Check in, Check out and answer the inquires)
・Cleaning (clean and set up the rooms upon check out)
・Hosting (try to make conversation or cooking together *Voluntary)
【Japanese Language Education】
we can visit several Japanese schools nearby areas. The school wish their students to communicate with native Japanese speakers. Unfortunately there are very few native teachers in entire Sri Lanka compared to 60,000+ learners.
We'd like to support their real conversation practice and give them the experiences of interactions with Japanese people.

You can see the wonderful aspects of Sri Lanka & problems and potentials in Sri Lanka under economic and political difficulties.
Our hostel
10 guests rooms (Foreign guest 80%, Sri Lankan guest : 20%)
The travelers who come to Sri Lanka, they have visited and experienced many countries and cultures. since Sri Lanka is sort of not major travel destination. we can share their many experiences.
The guests from Sri Lanka, we can know a lot about their life and cultures. At the same time, we can see how they plan their carrier and it's about how to go to abroad these days.
While hosting them, we can closely talk and spend the time together in the same space.
I'm also staying the hostel and will try to be a bridge between the guests.

Regarding the foods - basically we are going to provide foods or food budgets.
If the workawayer is good at cooking, we can offer the food to the guests and adjust other task loads.

It was a wonderful stay.
Our job was to clean the hostel, help out, and assist the Japanese language school.
We were not very good at English and the receptionist was very attentive in teaching us how to speak English!
