Description
(español abajo)
We are a french and colombian couple. We have been living in the colombian Andes for a few years. We have recently aquired a small land in the mountains near Bogotá where we are building our house and farm. Meanwhile we are living in a tiny house that we built.
Our main activities are duck raising and beekeeping. In the farm we also have vermiculture, two calves, a dog and a cat, an organic garden, and a few chicken and sheep. We also prepare gastronomic products derived from ducks (rillettes, confit...), bees (mead, turrón,...), and other foods (craft beer and rum...).
We have many projects and ideas to explore, and we will developp them based on the interests of the volunteers that come and visit us.
Our farm is located at 2900m, near a native forest with beatifull vegetation and birds (including orchids, and the famous mountain tucan).

We can help you with improving your spanish (and french if interested), and planning your trip around colombia. We can also share our knowledge in ecological construction and agriculture.
Our way of life is simple and happy. We like good food, and we mix colombian and french habits. We don't have any TV. There is a quite good internet connection.
Our farm is located at 2900m, near a native forest with beatifull vegetation and birds (including orchids, and the famous mountain tucan). It is close to the Chingaza Natural National Park, an exceptional ecosistem, very typical from our region.

No tenemos televisor.

The daily routine help we ask for is to take care of the animals: feed them, give water, clean the cages, doing the daily report of breeders activity, etc.
Once this is done (it can be quick or long, depending on the tasks to be done and number of ducks at the time you come), we have a lot of possible projects you can help with:
beekeeping
build cages, enclosures, and incubator for the ducks
Develop vermiculture
Cook the products we sell (mead, craft beer, sweets, rum, ducks)
sow, maintain, and harvest in the garden, according to the time of the year
Share daily tasks (cook, wash the dishes)
ecological building of our house and barn with raw earth
build an outside kitchen and a raw earth stove and oven
build a deck for the tiny house
build a wooden gate for the farm entrance
repare an electric fence
paint the tiny house
build a prototype to process duck feathers
build a shelter for pigs
build a greenhouse
build a family scale trout raising plant
plant trees
Reorganize our organic wastes around the farm
Build a biodigestor to recycle duck dejections
...

We live very close to the Chingaza Natural National Park, that can be visited.
There are nice hikes from the farm and around the village.
We are also located at 1h far from the sacred Guatavita lake.
We live in the countryside but are quite close from the village (20min by car) and from Bogotá(1h30). There is a rural bus service and public buses from the village, and they work quite well.
We live in a "cold" area, no tropical climate here!
-------------------------------------------------
