    Description

Hej dear fellow traveler, welcome to my host page on Workaway.

My name is Stefan, I've been on this planet for 32 years now. The place I am offering to host is where I grew up — amidst the beautiful countryside in Southern Germany, right in front of the Alps.

Despite it being a wonderful place, after finishing my training as a carpenter I felt the urge to explore the world, find out more about it and myself. Almost 3 years later, in August 2019, I returned with a whole new perspective on life — and since then have been building a lifestyle that actually serves me. That meant building my own Tiny House, starting my own little business, and slowly turning this property into something alive and beautiful.

My life is an ongoing design process. Right now I'm juggling quite a few things at once:

    - Caravan renovation — transforming an old caravan into a proper mobile home base: full interior overhaul, new kitchen, paint job
    - Reclaimed wood craft — I make picture frames and mirrors from old Allgäu barn wood, which I also sell. Simple, satisfying work with beautiful material.
    - preparing for Architecture studies in Liechtenstein — I recently signed up for a Bachelor's in Architecture, feeding my long-standing love for natural building, spatial design and the question of how we want to live
    - A long term project on our property.

My long-term vision is still the same at its core: contributing to spaces where people learn, grow and live well — natural homes, community spaces, maybe schools. Living close to nature, slowly, simply, in community, in honest buildings.

Every full moon I host a communal bonfire for people to gather.

I don't drink alcohol and would appreciate if you, for your time being here, were open to join in on that.

Things I like: being with kids and teens, playing guitar, board games, climbing (trees), swimming, landscaping, cats, deep and silly conversations, sustainable lifestyle, dancing to electronic music, yoga, meditation, sauna, speaking English

If what you read and see resonates with you I am happy to hear from you =)

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

I am happy to introduce you to local traditions and practices, show you around, meet up with friends who do different things and enjoy nature to the max.

As I have gathered a very broad knowledge on building with wood and natural materials in general you would have the chance to learn different building techniques, theoretically and practically.

    WORK CONDITIONS
In general I try to offer a variety of tasks you can choose from and it's especially important to me, that you actually want to do it from your own wish. I won't urge you to do anything.

3-5h/day, 3-5 days/week is a work load I find reasonable, fair and would appreciate very much =)

    WHAT I'D LOVE HELP WITH

Right now the main areas are:

    - Daily life & household
    - Caravan renovation
    - Reclaimed wood craft — frames & mirrors
    - Garden & veggie growing
    - Selling & decluttering
    - Photos & videos

    - Daily Life & Household
Cooking, cleaning, taking care of things in and around the property — it all matters and it all helps. Most of the time we do things together anyway, so it's less about tasks and more about sharing the day. =)

    - Caravan Renovation
I'm turning an old caravan into a proper flexible and autonomous home base — there's a solid amount of hands-on work involved: full interior renovation, new kitchen, fresh surfaces throughout and an epic paint job on the outside! No experience needed, I'm happy to walk you through everything.

    - Reclaimed Wood Craft
I make picture frames and mirrors from old Allgäu barn wood — simple, satisfying work. Happy to show you the process, and if you want to get creative with the material yourself, go for it. Loads to play with. =)

    -Garden & Veggies
There's a good amount of outdoor space here and I'd love to grow more food. If you enjoy getting your hands in the soil and want to experiment with planting and growing vegetables — please do! Lots of room to try things out.

    - Selling & Decluttering
I'm simplifying my life and have things to let go of. Help with photographing, listing and organising items to sell would be genuinely useful and very appreciated.

    - Photos & Videos
Occasional photos and short videos of the work and everyday life would be a big plus. There's also existing footage from the Tiny House build that could be edited into a short documentary-style summary.

TINY HOUSE: There is a guest couch/bed — not very long, but diagonally just enough for up to 180cm / 5'11". As this is also my private space, it's especially important to me that we have an easy-going vibe together. That's why I keep a testing period of 2–3 days. If things are sweet you are welcome to stay for longer. =)

CARAVAN: It's under construction, but it'll soon have a 140x200m bed, benches to sit on, a table and light

    Infrastructure:
Toilet: compost toilet at the edge of forest (see picture)
Shower: hot shower in my tiny house, cold outdoor shower, lake nearby for swimming
Laundry: washing and drying available at the neighbors house

    EXPLORE
If you enjoy being active in nature you will thrive in this environment! There are endless amounts of hiking and biking trails, lakes, forest and fields as far as you can see.

Schloss Neuschwanstein is probably the most famous landmark close-by (only 30min by car). Even though I'm not that intrigued by it, it is beautiful to look at. It's near the old town of Füssen, which is really nice to spend half a day walking around and eat out amongst locals and tourists.

Munich, Innsbruck and Stuttgart are not far (1,5-2h with public transport) and offer everything you might miss in the country.

I can borrow 2 bikes and also drive you to the nearest train station ("Lengenwang" or "Nesselwang", depending on the direction).
