    Description

    Hi all.

We are a family of two parents (Christel & Dann) and three children (Michel, Chili & Chelsea) aged 12–19, living on an old traditional four-winged farm in the countryside near Copenhagen.

Dann works shift work at a brewery, while Christel works at home planning the daily work and the many projects around the farm.

We are currently renovating the main house and continuously have many small building projects, as well as both large and small tasks related to the different parts of the garden. In addition, we run a small farm campsite with space for up to three caravans at a time. We are also in the process of establishing a small permaculture garden, which is also used for hosting workshops.

Over the years we have had various animals such as dogs, cats, goats, sheep, geese and ducks. At the moment we have cats and ducks, and we expect to have sheep and geese again during 2026.

We are looking for motivated Workawayers who would like to stay with us for a longer period and help with the various projects. We prefer Workawayers who are a bit handy and enjoy practical work, but this is not a requirement – we are happy to teach you what you don’t know yet. If you are only able to stay with us for two weeks, please don’t hesitate to contact us, as we occasionally also host Workawayers for shorter stays.

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

In our family you can learn about Danish "hygge", language, culture and society. You get an insight into our family's daily lives, norms, values and traditions.

We have an open mind and enjoy talking about culture, politics and social issues, which means you can ask about anything.

At our place you will also have the opportunity to learn something about nature, (permacultural) gardening and animal husbandry and to join us creating a large wild nature garden, where we arrange workshops aboute ecology, permaculture and climate change and demonstrate how easy it is to improve biodiversity in the garden, grow your own vegetables, sort and compost waste, learn to recycle discarded things, etc.

As a family, we hope to learn about other cultures, traditions, and languages through everyday life with you. This is important to us because meeting people from different parts of the world strengthens our openness, curiosity, and understanding — and especially gives our children a natural and respectful view of diversity.

We are looking for a single, a couple or two friends who are willing to share a double bed.

While staying with us you'll both be expected to work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week - or 25 hours total pr person that can be arranged in different ways if it makes more sense at various times. We can be flexible about which days you're working. Most projects will be outdoors, but on very rainy days we'll try to adapt to the weather.

We'll often be working alongside you or as a minimum give you good instructions so everyone feels comfortable with the tasks at hand.

Bring clothes that you don't mind getting dirty and clothes that are rainproof.

We strive to be environmentally friendly in any way we can, this includes sorting our waste, taking short showers and not to waste energy wherever possible. Please be willing to take part in this.

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

At the moment, we offer a small room for one Workawayer in the main house. The room can be shared by two Workawayers, or it will be yours alone if we end up hosting only one helper. A couple or two friends traveling together can be a great option. We have blankets and duvets.

We all share the bathroom, common areas and kitchen. Free internet, but bring your own computer.

It is a good idea to bring indoor shoes/slippers and a warm sweater, as the floors and the house can feel a bit cold during winter. The house has old facilities, but it is perfectly livable, and we will do our best to make sure you feel comfortable and at home.

During the summer season, we also have the possibility to accommodate two additional Workawayers in our caravan, which is located on our small countryside campsite. In addition, we are happy to welcome Workawayers all year round who arrive with their own caravan or campervan.

To be workaways with us, it is important that you can eat the same as our family. We do not have the time and opportunity to shop special foods or make special dishes. We can therefore not buy vegan/vegetarian food or halal meat.

We expect that you help in the kitchen the days that you are attending the meals. Everyone helps to cover the table and clean after meals, and emty and fill the dishwasher.

We do NOT accept any use of hash/marijuana, wild partying, smoking inside the house, extreme drinking or people that need to register, using our address.

We prefer that you arrive between Sunday - Wednesday.

You are free to do whatever you find interesting, in the freetime. If you like to go somewhere we will try to help you find the best way getting there.

There are only 2 kilometers from our farmhouse to the center of Ringsted. Ringsted has a long history going back to medieval times when it was without doubt the main city on Zealand.

At the 'Tingstenene' in the town center, important decisions were made by Danish monarchs who were subsequently laid to rest in the beautiful church of St. Bendts.

Today Ringsted is a town bustling with life and a lot to offer with activities and entertainment all year round. A popular town for hosting conferences and events, Ringsted is home to shopping malls and a shopping outlet on the outskirts.

The town center is cozy and welcoming and regularly hosts exciting fairs and festivals. Ringsted also boasts a swimming pool and has leisure facilities on offer to those who seek a more active visit.

There is a bird sanctuary about 8 km. from our property that you can visit for free as often as you like. They also have many exciting events throughout the year.

You can reach most of Denmark from Ringsted. Copenhagen is only 45 minutes away by train. Funen and Jutland is only 1½-2 hours away by train. The train leaves every 30 minutes. Be aware of the fact that transport in Denmark can be quite expensive.

Check out GoMore (car-sharing) to see if you can travel budget to your next destination in Denmark - or if you are lucky maybe somewhere in Europe. Or flixbus.dk for cheap bustickets.
