Help at a community based organisation in Kampala ,the main city in Uganda. Help us give literacy skills and arts education to more children in Uganda-We run literacy clubs for less served children in Kampala in a drive to improve on youths' literacy levels in Uganda. we also have literacy clubs in Iganga, in the East of Uganda and in Kasese, the West
Activities include, teaching, reading aloud with children, poetry, drama, arts and creativity fun games.
Clubs, camps and Art&Story summits where we combine resilience building activities with literacy best practices in sets of dynamic lessons around the themes of Belonging, Friendship, Confidence, Curiosity, Courage, Kindness and Hope. We raise money through the Teen poetry slam that rich schools and the public pay for as a source of edutainment.
The children are between the ages of 8 to 14.
They under go the literacy program for 2 years and we need more facilitators for the literacy clubs they attend-if you love games with children and reading books , telling stories this is the best place for you-write us!!

We would like to host,meet,mix and mingle with all of you from all over the world that would love to spend time helping children/youth appreciate reading and share with them how fun reading can be!
This is mainly because we believe most of our social problems can be solved through giving the young generation literacy and advocacy skills. We also want to see that more Ugandans are able to appreciate reading as a culture.
Our daily work is literacy, arts and Music based, we would like to have people interested in facilitating children between the age of 10-14.
Activities include: reading aloud, writing and telling stories, music and dance, visual arts, vocabulary building, speeches,drawing and many more fun filled literacy and advocacy activities.

3 bed roomed bungalow-self contained to be shared with office space for Kampala
Depending on the number of volunteers at a particular time, we are willing to collaborate with hostels/loges/hotels in around these areas to give you the best stay with us!
Since we run an annual book festival in Uganda in early September, we would love it if you would be interested in working with us at the book festival around that time-activities include, book readings, story telling, poetry,reading to children,face painting,book exhibitions,book signings and drama for literacy activities.
This event is a chance for the children we work with to showcase the acquired literacy skills from the program we give them through the above activities. So if you are around early September, we will be glad to work with you at the event!
