Description
Hey hello, My name is Margon, I am Dutch and I live in Central Portugal. In 2024 I purchased a plot of land of 1 hectare near a small village, called Abrunhosa-a-Velha, in between Gouveia and Mangualde.
I fell in love with this piece of land, mainly because of the view. I have great views over the Mondego valley, all the way to the Serra de Estrela mountains behind Gouveia town. I also like the land, because it is in de middle of nature and it is very quiet here. I live off-grid on the land, in my camper van. I have build an outdoor toilet and I get my electricity from a solar panel on my roof and I have a generator for cloudy days. I am planning to buy more solar panels to put on my land, but I am not that far yet.
At the moment I am still clearing the land. I want to get rid of all the broom bushes and the brambles. I already started to plant some fruit trees and I want to make a vegetable garden. I would like to transform my land into a little paradise with many flowers and cute seating areas in shady places.
Recently I agreed on taking care of a dog of a friend of mine, who is abroad for four months. The dog is a German Shepherd and he is called Rock. Rock is a very friendly dog, but can also be a little bit stubborn once in a while. He enjoys his walks a lot. I take him out for a walk 4 times a day, of which 1 time 1 hour walk and 3 times 20 minutes walks. Rock would like to walk more and longer, but at the moment I don't have more time, due to my job.
Sometimes he is a little bit naughty, then he runs away to the neighbours land, chasing after a smell he picked up. When Rock smells something, his ears don't work anymore. I can call him for half an hour, but he pretends not to hear me. But since he now knows that this is his place, he always comes back after a while.
Now I have been given the opportunity to go on a working trip, while Rock's owner is still abroad. And I am looking for a dog sitter for 3 weeks. Rock is a strong dog and he is looking for a dog sitter who is stronger than him.Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

The two villages where I live in between are quite small. It is nice to make stroll and speak some Portuguese with the local people. One village has a café with a mini-market and a post office.
Living on my land can be a challenge, because I live off-grid. And it can also be an amazing adventure, being in the middle of nature, with only a dog and the singing birds all over the place.Aide
From March 27th until the 12th of April, I am going on a work trip. I need a pet sitter for Rock (the dog that I am taking care of at the moment). You are most welcome to come a few days earlier, for example 23 or 24 of March. Then I can show you around and you can get to know Rock.
In June and July I am planning to go to the Netherlands. Rock will not be here anymore, but I do need a land sitter, to water my plants once in a while.Langues parlées

I don't have a house on the land. I live in a camper myself, but my camper won't be here, when I am away.
I prefer someone who is traveling around with his/her own camper. You are most welcome to park your camper on my land, when you come pet sitting.
I can offer a tent for someone, who doesn't have a camper van. I would recommend that you come with your own vehicle, because the closest supermarket is 8 kilometers away.Autres infos...
I live near the Serra da Estrela, which is a nice place to visit. You can drive towards the Torre (the highest peak of Portugal) or make a walk near Vale de Rossim.
Gouveia and Mangualde are two towns where you can find bigger supermarkets, post offices, farmácias and pastelarias. In Chas de Tavares you will find a smaller supermarket and a laundry machine.
I live nearby a train station called Gouveia gare. At the moment they are rebuilding the train tracks. On the internet I read that they will be finished at the end of March, from that time the train will ride again, between Guarda and Santa Comba Dao.Informations complémentaires

If you have your own router/modem, you can work here perfectly. The internet connection is good. I also work fulltime, remotely from my land. If you don't have a router yourself, I can leave mine behind in March/April, I have got unlimited wifi.
Espace pour garer des vans
I have enough place for a camper van. I have an outdoor toilet and a generator for electricity. I can show you around in the area, where you can find drinking water and a hot shower (25 kilometers)

Rock doesn't like dominant barking dogs. Rock does like small dogs and cats. I don't know how he will respond to other pets.
