House projects with a family of five in south Iceland

  Description

  We are a family with three grown children living in the town of Selfoss in south Iceland, 45 min drive from Reykjavik. Our daughter lives in Germany now, but our two boys are at home. Our youngest is 18 years old.
  
  The dad is a campus missionary with a background in software engineering. The mom is a music teacher. We have three cats.
  
  We enjoy getting to know new people and sharing life.

  We enjoy sharing about Iceland, our culture - and asking you about yours. We have had lot's of interesting conversations with workawayrs in the past and we are looking forward to having many more!

  Aide

  Our house was built in 1954. Our focus for the summer of 2027 is to paint the house, the fence, and the two buildings in our backyard.
  
  You will help 5 hours a day on average. We prefer for these hours to be worked flexibly so that you can either do 5 short days or 2-3 long days because most of the work is to paint. When the weather is dry we want to take advantage of that and work but take a break when the it is raining and we cant paint. Painting is the main job for the summer, but we will have a few other smaller projects.
  
  Sometimes (we can't promise it) you can borrow a car if you would like to make short trips in your spare time.
  
  We prefer couples - but are open to exploring other options.

  Kolbrún is learning German and loves practicing speaking it. Otherwise, Icelandic is our local language, and we speak English at a high level. We have lived in the USA on two different occasions.

  Hébergement

  A small room upstairs with a bed that is 120 cm wide. We have good internet access. There is only one bathroom, and it is downstairs. But in addition, the swimming pool is nearby.

  Within an hour or so driving distance from Selfoss you have places like Hveragerði, Skálholt, Gullfoss, Geysir, Seljalandsfoss, Skógar etc. Many nice waterfalls and other great places.

  Blues (4 ans)

  Son of Sónata and was born in our house. He is a happy cat, and smiles often. He likes to sleep on our bed.

  

  Sónata (6 ans)

  She is independent and often grumpy, but loves attention at the right moments. Very, very smart.

  

  Marcado (5 ans)

  He loves to cuddle and has a fun personality.
