Description
We live on a beautiful farm in the Medway Valley, 50 min drive from Blenheim. We are Tom and Claudia and our two daughters Hazel (almost 4 years) and Isla (2 years). We breed merino sheep and Black Angus cattle and as every farming family are very busy on the farm, so Claudia would love some help around the house and with the girls. Especielly until October since Claudia is pregnant with Baby Nr 3. There is some opportunity to go out on the farm with Tom every now and then for fun, some change of scenery and seeing the farm. We had a 2 day walking trek on our farm for many years. If you enjoy the outdoors and the peace of nature but don't mind how busy it gets with two little children you will be the perfect help.

Claudia is German and our kids are raised bilingual so if you are German and you want to improve your English we can help with that. Tom is a kiwi farmer who has been raised on the farm. We would love to show you the rural lifestyle of New Zealand. In spring we have pet lambs to cuddle and always dogs to play with. They are farm dogs but very friendly. We would love for our kids to get to know other languages to spark up their interest in other countries and cultures. We love food, so if you can share a dish from your country we would be very excited. Claudia is very creative and loves her painting, spinning (wool), weaving, knitting and sewing.

Aide
Claudia would like to spend some more time with the girls, so we need a hand around the house. Preparing meals or even cooking, hanging/folding washing and a bit of tidying. There is a huge veggie garden if you love gardening. I'm sure we will find something that works. Sometimes I have a bit of a list but most of the time it is just helping a bit every now and then or playing with the kids if I need to finish some tasks.

Hébergement
We have a spare room in the house or you can have your own cottage with kitchen and bathroom for some more privacy which is only 20m away from the house.
Please follow the instructions on one of the photos if you come woth your own car. You can see the cottage, stay left of it and then you turn right onto a big lawn area where you can park.
We have a big pool and tennis court which you are welcome to use.
Usually lunch is our warm meal of the day. We eat meat 3 or 4 times a week, mostly venison from hunting the wild deer on the farm. Some chicken and fish every other week. -

As we live rural you need your own vehicle or arrange pick up with us (Claudia is usually in Blenheim twice a week). If you have your own car you can explore lots of areas on the weekend. Picton, Blenheim and the beach are good for a day trip and the sounds, Kaikoura and the Nelson area for a weekend.

The two girls are very kind and very endearing.
I highly recommend this workaway, the atmosphere at home is warm.
We can also be globally autonomous on the different tasks so it's super practical. And when you're not working, you can take advantage of the place for hiking!
staying with this family was a lovely and egaging experience.
I helped with different things around the house and garden and had two interesting days of farm work (taking stool samples and helping with scanning).
