Our stay with Veronica, Bart and the cat Lucy, really exceeded our expectations in every way. They were super kind to us, e.g. by cooking delicious meals for us and helping us plan some visits in the neighboorhood. They even took us along to have a game night with friends of theirs, which really made us feel part of the family. It was also a
… read more really valuable cultural exchange, because they made a lot of time to talk with us and have interesting discussions about the American culture, politics, our personal lives etc.
For the work aspect of the stay, we mostly did gardening and we also cooked a meal for the four of us. They gave us plenty of free time to explore the area around Silicon Valley, like the Monterey bay and Big Sur. We went to see the Santa Cruz mountains and had some wine tastings with the four of us, which was a ton of fun.
Overall: 10/10 experience, would recommend!

My husband and I stayed with them for 2 weeks. Bart and Veronica is so thoughtful and super kind that always care about if we have any inconveniences. They took us to many nice places like touring in San Francisco, California University in Berkeley, wineries seafood restaurant and Japanese restaurant. Also very dishes Bart makes never disappoints.
… read more The tasks are not difficult mostly doing dishes, weeding and cleaning yard. They often encourage us to take a break so we’ve never worked for 3 hours continuously. What we really enjoyed is board games. They have plenty kinds of games which are so fun. I think I’ll collect some of them after I back home. Also what made our stay so enjoyable is Bart and Veronica are so interested in Japanese culture and our point of view about things. We both were so happy answering to the questions. I had an amazing week with Veronica & Bart, Kosuke (a very kind Workawayer from Japan) and the two cats Blue and Hailey. We were a very funny looking family and had lots of fun during visits, diner and boarding games.

Joe was easy to host. He is a diligent worker and was ready to do whatever we asked. He weeded in our garden for days -- not the most exciting task. He did it eagerly and
… read more he did it well. When cleaning in our home, he went beyond what was asked to clean more surfaces. He visited during a challenging time and he handled it with aplomb.
Joe works hard. He asked for more tasks to do. He took initiative to do items not asked of him. He took care of his needs for breakfast and lunch. And he even made our soup one evening.
During our visit Joe was satisfied with staying close to home.
You can't go wrong with hosting Joe.
