Description
Come volunteer in a new, energetic Holistic school in a village located in Kerala, South India! Its focus is on holistic education and the school has a particular focus on ecology. (Kerala is at the forefront of experiencing severe climate change, with ever-rising heat and humidity, pollution and smog, and increasingly frequent severe flooding). We follow a unique teaching approach carefully designed through the integration of the educational philosophies of Mahatma Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Maria Montessori and Rudolf Steiner. This means it is not 100% Gandhi's Philosophy, Tagore's Philosophy, Maria Montessori or Rudolf Steiner's. It is an upcoming and growing project trying to move and think from the conventional system to a Holistic/Alternative Approach. Since 2017 we were located in Kuravilanghad and now we are working to relocate this project to a new location called Thuruthikkara which also has the certified distinction of being the first green village in the entirety of Kerala. We prefer to call it an Agro-Edu-well-being-Hub rather than a conventional and stereotyped system.
We look for volunteers in the field of Arts & Crafts, Music & Dance, Yoga, Maths, Science, Communicative English, Graphic Designers, Web Developers, DIY & Project writing. Primary Target Students:- Age group 3 - 12 years old students, but we also welcome students of all ages who wish to jump out of the traditional system.

We also have client schools where we are promoting holistic and activity-based teaching and learning. So volunteers are also assigned to other schools if we get requests from the client schools. But the approach will always be the same: "Integrated and Experiential teaching and learning" We are also searching for vibrant volunteers to organise summer camps in different schools as part of our community. We promote camps and workshops to promote Communicative English Language Skills, Arts & Crafts, Yoga - Mindfulness, Music & Dance and Activity-based Math-Science learning.

Here you will find an open-minded staff and management team interested in supporting your volunteer experience in every way possible. Your skills, desires and goals will be integrated into the vision and energy that is already coursing through the school and its community. As a young school, there is great flexibility and receptivity to outsiders. Our Village people are warmhearted and friendly and you will feel a part of the community immediately. Since it is a village, please ensure the dress code is respectful.
The HUB sees itself as a knowledge pool where the students and teachers come together to share and grow together in a flat structure. We envision a future education system that promotes cooperation, mutual growth and holistic learning rather than competition and a focus on grades and tests.

You will be immersed in an authentic south Indian community with almost no foreigners. You will have opportunities to meet and befriend many local people and we will help you feel welcome and a part of things immediately.

We promote VEGAN South Indian Food and private accommodation.
We promote local farmers by buying fresh seasonal vegetables and fruits from their local shop so minor changes might happen upon availability

In this post-pandemic scenario, we are relocating our project to a new location and we are looking for serious Volunteers for our new educational hub to help us with different tasks such as:
- Art, Music & Yoga in Education (Priority 1)
- Photography and Short Video Making (Priority 2)
- Gardening (specifically watering the cultivation), Creative arts, Eco Building, Organic Farming support (Priority 3)
- Teaching and Education.
- Marketing and Communication.
- Community Outreach Initiatives (All ideas

Every Second Saturday and Sunday are holidays for the Institution. Some public strikes/protests are also considered as holidays (but will be informed upon situations)
Since it is an educational institution we are forced to follow some dress codes. Modest dress is what we recommend.

Hébergement
There is a private space for volunteers adjacent to our school. It is spacious and has its own kitchen and three bedded room with a common shower and toilet. All necessary equipment is provided at the house, you need to bring nothing but your own clothing and necessities. We will also be happy to provide you with home hospitality on weekends should you wish.
Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner are on your own and we will be happy to supply you with groceries (within VEGAN Diet) so that you may prepare your own type of food. There are also restaurants within walking distance. We respect all food but at the school we promote VEGAN and we try to support our local farmers. This is an add-on to get fresh and locally available vegetables and fruits. There are also restaurants within walking distance.
There is a bicycle at the house for your use and the staff will gladly assist in giving you a ride as needed. A bus stop is located next to the accommodation and India is well-served with inexpensive and frequent public transit.

Kerala is a beautiful region and features many interesting attractions such as gorgeous beaches, a tiger reserve, waterfalls, beautiful mountains, coffee, tea and spice plantations, historic backwaters, modern city life, traditional villages, incredible culture, and a unique people famous for 97% literacy rate. There is so much to do and public transport can take you anywhere! We will do our best to help with transportation. The school itself takes periodic field trips.
