    Description

    --------

The natural reserve is a conservation space "in situ" of flora and fauna with almost 30 years of family effort to contribute to the protection of the exuberant beauty of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

Since 1990 it became a Natural Reserve of Civil Society dedicated exclusively to natural regeneration, following the teachings of our "Big Brothers" - the Tayrona Indians - and developing protection strategies against the practices of agriculture based on the use of agrochemicals, the felling and burning of trees, the hunting of wild animals, the capture of birds, the predatory tourism, among others.

At present, it has been organized to be a 100% natural and a self-sustainable resting option, as an alternative to the local development of excessive touris, irresponsible with the environment and the native peoples.

In the foothills of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the Reserve is a dream that seeks to establish a more harmonious and healthy relationship with Mother Earth.

Roberto, the head that dreamed and has looked after this place for years, is a professor in the city of Santa Marta since he was 18 years old. Today, at 57, he continues to promote his dream of conservation, worried about the advance of uncontrolled tourism to the reserve areas and the basins of the Sierra Nevada.

Together with Myriam, his companion, they have nurtured and defended the Reserve, as a place of encounter and coexistence, pedagogy and learning, hand in hand with the wise worldview of the indigenous peoples of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta -Arhuaco, Kogui, Wiwa and Kankuamo.

This is an alternative of living and enjoying the wonders of the Sierra, and giving back to it, learning not to leave a mark on the inhabited spaces.

The Natural Reserve, with more than 60 hectares, offers the possibility of bird watching, hiking on paths among the vegetation, streams, waterfalls and eyes of water (birth / springs) of the Gaira river basin, paths between mountains and genuine indigenous roads, protected from plundering and looting. In addition, it is guard of indigenous terraces and stones of ritual marking.

The reserve is located about 30 minutes by car, from Santa Marta, before reaching the town of Minca. It has an spacious, beautiful and comfortable house with rooms and bathrooms enabled, kitchen, wood fire, living room, two terraces and a loft ideal for rest. In addition, there is a traditional indigenous dwelling in which a Wiwa family lives. Faithful to our principles of harmony with nature, this reserve does NOT have electric light, allowing us a sensory and emotional encounter with the gifts that the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta gives us. We have small solar energy devices where you can charge your cell phone, computer or tablet.

We invite you to come, to know, to fall in love, to commit yourself and to contribute something of what you know and can do for this little piece of the heart of the world in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.
