    Description

We live in the mountains of central Portugal far away from everything. Our land is steep and terraced, we grow vegetables and only have solar power. The road does not reach all the way to the house so be prepared for a steep walk up – don't bring more than you can carry!
We're interested in sustainable living and co-habitation with the land and each other. We practice meditation and yoga, we are all artists and musicians and everyone is committed to becoming their best selves – we believe in the positive use of psychedelics for self improvement and gaining information from the gods and our ancestors.

We live a 30 minute drive from town where we go a few times a week, it does help if you have a car but it's not necessary. There are lots of nice walks to go on and places to swim, there are a couple small bar's and cafe's which are not too close but still within walking distance.

We make our money from selling vegan food at local markets, our shop where we sell hand crafted items, tattoos and putting on events.

In 2024 we'll be putting on a festival, a Celtic, folk festival which we are looking for people to be involved in.

    FOOD

We are completely vegan and prefer to live with other vegan's out of convenience and a shared moral understanding. We do take volunteers who are not vegan but GENUINELY interested in the ethical reasons for this way of life and who are committed to eating vegan during their stay – we do not have any animal products on the land.
This may seems strict but previous volunteers have taught us to be clear from the start.

We have one shared meal in the evenings and provide fruit and tea in the day time, volunteers should bring things for themselves to snack on I.E nuts, dried fruit, bread, oats etc.
This might not be as much as other people provide but we do not ask for a lot of work and volunteers get a lot of time to themselves

    Other Things To Know

We have no Wi-Fi at home but do at our shop in town
The phone signal is very limited in the mountains
We don't allow alcohol or drugs on the land (except plant based ones)
We have limited electricity on the land, we can charge phones but nothing more – you might want to bring a solar power bank if you need more power.
If you make things like jewelry, clothes or art it's possible for you to make some money selling at our shop or the local markets

    Echange culturel et opportunités d'apprendre

I did workaway myself in many different places and Oh how beautiful, intense and interesting these experiences were. The people you meet, the things you learn, the places you get to see, shared meals, shared laughs and deeep talks.

Life here in the mountains is different, you'll see people living in the smallest villages, meeting for a coffee or a beer in the next biggest village, less stress, lots of smiles and village culture, beautiful rivers and waterfalls, walks, sunsets in the mountains, wildlife,...

    Hébergement

We have a few bells tents available but not many, if you have your own tent we can provide some things like an air mattress and bedding.

There is a shared kitchen – currently in someone's house but our current project is to move it into a new space so it's more accessible to everyone and we have more space to store large amounts of food.

We have a compost toilet and an outside shower however we would like to build a long drop toilet this summer as we have more people living on the land.

    Travellers with own car/vehicle welcome

We like to have our personal space, we need our time alone to recharge but I'm also very social, we like to make work fun, music is always around, vegan food only, we go on little adventures around the area and happy to take workawayers on their day off, but we also really need people that can entertain themselves and know how to be happy in pure nature. There's lots of walks around, the beautiful crystal clear Ceira river is in walking distance.

We like working and we're really looking for people that feel similar and are very enthusiastic about getting sh*t done and learn from each other!
