Jessica and Pablo worked really hard in difficult weather conditions in an extremely cold winter in Scotland, so different from their life in Mexico. They fitted in to our family life well and were a pleasure to host and I would recommend them highly to future hosts and thank them both so much for all the help.

My stay at Iona, Julien, Felix and Fergus' place was truly amazing! I learned how to move cows and sheep in the mountains with the dogs and I loved it. I got to see incredible landscapes, ride horses in the mountains, cook with produce from the garden, and spend time with an extraordinary family! They were so kind and I felt welcome from the

I stayed with them for 5 weeks (September and early October 2024) and was so sad to leave. But I'm already planning my next stay in a few months' time!
It really was the best experience I could have hoped for a first workaway!
If you like meeting people, outdoors and animals, I really recommend these hosts!

Iona and Julien are great hosts. Felix is a super sweet little boy. They made me feel super comfortable and took me everywhere, they learned and showed me so many things in one month. I helped in the household, cooked and baked a lot, I looked after Felix and got to see the beautiful place they live in. The landscape is stunning and all the people

I have had an amazing 5 weeks with Iona, Julian and Felix! I felt extremely welcomed and I settled into their daily lives very quickly. Even though I come from a similar background I still learned a lot about their lifestyle and unique way of life.
I got to do a large range of help, from been Iona's extra pair of hands while she looked after

I got to explore the farm, riding Iona’s horses in the weekends and late evening rides, visit / swim in the waterfalls and just enjoy time with their amazing family, even at a Highland Games and a ceilidh!
To people considering staying with Julian and Iona, don’t get scared off by the midges, most of the time I was there they were not an issue. Try and stay for a decent amount of time, I stayed for 5 weeks but I with I had stayed longer.
Thank you Iona, Julian, Mini Monsieur Felix and the rest of your family (and pets) for a great experience.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

The time I spent at Iona, Julien and Leon’s farm was truly amazing ! I got to work in the garden and learn knew skills and tricks, move the cows to the mountains with the dogs and see amazing sceneries, ride on a horse to a loch in the mountains, cook, dig, mend, etc, but especially spend time with an amazing family !! They were so nice and I felt

If you have energy to invest in great projects, hikes, and outdoors, I would truly recommend you to this experience !

Sorry for the delay but better late than never!
I has a really great time up in the Highlands with Iona and Julien. I was mainly with Iona's parents on the East coast farm helping with lambing, but also got to come for a holiday over west ! It was such a good experience and so lovely to meet everyone. It was awesome learning more about

My stay at Iona's and Julien's farm was wonderful and unique! I stayed there for two and a half weeks and was able to feel so much in peace and had time to learn many things about myself, sustainability and many other things.

What a lovely 3 weeks on Iona’s and Julien’s farm! They are very friendly, kind, and helpful people. I really enjoy helping them around the house, with animals, renovations, and mainly with the little king. Leon is such a great child! He is very easygoing, he was used to helping me with a lot of things and we had so much fun together.

I would recommend staying on the farm for people who are enjoying the silence of nature, mountains, and lakes. In my spare time, I had a lot of opportunities to go hike, walk, or bicycle. I saw a lot of beautiful places and I also stayed one night in the bothy.
Once again, I am very grateful for this experience. I learned a lot of useful things. Thank you, Iona and Julian. It was a pleasure!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

Staying with Iona and Julien (and stef who's currently working with them) was my first Workaway experience and I had a fab time. I stayed for 3 weeks, helping out in the garden, cleaning and getting the self catered property they have ready for the rental season and then really just living as part of the family so helping feed and look after the

We all just pitched in with cooking and cleaning, everything just ran very flexibly with plans always changing depending on circumstance. I was made to feel welcome from when I first arrived, they are used to having volunteers and so are very relaxed about having people in their home.
The farm is pretty remote and it does help to have your own car to explore a bit further the area (it's really stunning in the NW of Scotland) but at the same time there is loads of hiking and waterfalls to explore from the door and if you love the outdoors this would be a great place for you.Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.

Yeeehaa :) what a treat to be hosted up at Rhidorroch by Iona, Julien and King Leon (their wee son)!
Lindsey and I had a blast being part of the family and helping with an assortment of odd jobs; gardening, painting, cleaning the gutters, stacking wood, looking after Leon and feeding the animals (pigs, chickens and dogs - the sheep and horses
… read more were wintering on their other farm). We were treated to some awesome local and authentic food (be prepared for lots of venison), as well as local seafood on occasion - we learned how to cook lobster and crab from scratch. Our weekends were full of superb walks (not quite spring and no midges, super beautiful time) - there is a local bothy nearby and a wee fishing hut and lots to explore!
Things to know for future workawayers:
Long & Bumpy Drive Way (for us!) - we have a small mini and the drive way in to the house wasn't crazy difficult, but with the car being low to the ground, we had a reasonably treacherous journey in and out as we navigated the gravel and various potholes. It is a long way in to the house as well, so if you think you are on the wrong road, you probably aren't, you just haven't arrived yet ;)
Cooking - we shared the cooking with our hosts and they were awesome and we made a wee grocery list and the mix was great!
Rooster - a morning call was loud and raring. We suggest bringing ear plugs. We got used to it - kinda.
Dogs - there is a pack of Collies and a Black lab and they are in and out of the house and all amazing! Getting to know them was a favourite part of our trip, indeedio!!
All Weather in a Day - this is classic Scotland, but just be prepared and flexible as well intentioned and best laid plans are always subject to the weather (Iona and Julien were good at giving us inside and outside jobs so we had the option).
Lots of Jobs - it is a big Estate, so there is always lots of work to be done and Iona and Julien were awesome and asking what we preferred and were most excited to try out hands at.
We are excited to go back at some point!!Vous pouvez seulement contacter les workawayers avec une adhésion active.
