The house is placed in the outskirts of the Candarli village in Bursa, Iznik, in the Marmara region.
I am an easy-going host, experienced in multi-cultural relations. I have entry-level house repairing skills, and I like sharing my knowledge.
After 2 years of looking for ways to leave megapolis Istanbul for a rural life, I recently moved to a country house, and I am trying to start a new life here. I am interested in seeing to what extent a sustainable life I can create, to minimize my footprint on the world while I live, and not exploit animals and the planet as much as I can succeed.
I rented an adobe country house in a mountain village, at 800 meters, 2 months ago. I am living here for the last 1 month. I am facing difficulties in completing the repair jobs by myself. I want to ensure that the house is repaired and is ready to be used, as much as it can be, before winter sets in, around September. Winters are very cold here. After I complete my house repairs, I want to do different collective things with villagers and learn many things about natural life.

Help is needed with plastering, distempering and whitewashing in an adobe country house. There are other repair work needed, mainly woodwork and carpentry, including making tables, shelves, and adding parts to the flooring.
A separate room will be provided. If there are 2 guests, they will share the same room.
The kitchen, washroom and toilet is ready to use. There is an efficient kitchen stove used to make food.
The house will be ready for accomodating guests in the beginning of June.
The house isn't suitable yet for children, it needs a bit more repair.
The Internet bandwidth is limited, can be used only for mail access (via my phone's hotspot).
Phone reception is fine, cell phone tower coverage is sufficient.
There are 2 friendly dogs.
The kitchen and all food ingredients will be shared freely, as with the other utilities in the house. Meals usually are eaten three times a day, but guests are free to set their own meal times and frequency. I provide all food ingredients locally.

Volunteers can enjoy touring the local area, which is quite beautiful, and they can also visit İznik and the surroundings, also known for its scenery and antique remains from the Roman era. In fact, Iznik is one of the most important historical and touristic locations in the Marmara region, and is called as an "open air museum", due to the sheer number of antique artifacts and buildings, many still intact. This is due to the fact that Iznik was the capital of different civilizations since 316 B.C. - the Seljuk Empire, the Byzantine Empire and the Ottoman Empire. Iznik also was an important religious center in Roman and Byzantine times.
There are minibuses to the Iznik center in week days, they take 30 minutes to reach Iznik. The times are 8 am to the village from Iznik, and at 2 and 4 pm from Iznik to the village. Public transport from Iznik to/and from other cities is much more frequent and at all days.
There is a village bazaar/outdoor market set up each Wednesday in Iznik. There is also a mobile market that stops by the village each evening, and it is possible to place orders.
